Reason for that? I have done MY11 WRX's on E70 with stock injectors/exhaust and on 12.4psi at 5100rpm made just short of 200Kw on a Mainline dyno. Peak power on this VF46 was at 4800rpm so it has the potential to make 200 if I kept the torque output high until 5400rpm. Even saw IDC's in the 90's and it was super rich above peak power for the engine load it was under.

I have done E85 on TD04's that have made 190kw with a full TBE

Remember that less boost = less engine load thus less fuel required.

= less air forced through motor = less power than possible at higher boost with appropriate fuel system.

Well technically less boost = less restriction in the inlet, which also improves relative VE

But a lot of people don't want more than 200 so it's exactly what they are after.

Correct, at 12 psi it has the same AFR's as your car on 21psi so it is definitely fine for 12psi.

All I am saying is that the E85 potential is not being fully exploited.

Would those engines be reliable if it was.....hmmm there is logic to your E85 on stock inj at lower boost.
Avoiding engine reliability issues by boost restriction on e85, cool!

Wasn't it decided that there is major wear and tear using stock injectors from the 4 cyls?

On say 5psi boost, with pump fuel the target AFR's are low 13's typically. So with say 12psi boost, targetting an 11:1 on full boost with E85 it is quite rich. I could have safely pulled it back to 12:1 and made 200Kw with ease. The E85 potential could be exploited if I had gone a bit leaner and used the Ethanol as the cylinder chiller for the lean mixtures.

Not the case :)

Had a discussion with Matt on Monday about his next trip to Tassie in the hope of tweaking my tune further than it was currently (just had the DBW maps smoothed and made more agressive)
After a quick message or two, I had a present arrive in my inbox, MY06 H6 6MT Version1 tuned map.
Found another local club member to flash it for me and it was an instant difference,
DBW control was even better
Torque gains absolutely everywhere
Timing Chain rattle appears to have gone
IAM at 1 and even after 30km that night there were timing corrections adding more all over the map.

We have a bridge across the river here in Hobart and I'd normally use 5th gear to pull up the bridge to maintain 70km/h,
but if i had to accellerate up it i'd usually need 4th gear. Now, from 1500prm in 6th you just push the loud pedal and it pulls up to 70km/h without hassle.

Average Fuel economy for the tank (i'd already travelled 300kms) dropped from 10L/100km to 9.2l/100km after only 40km's :D
Can't wait to get a full highway tank in, my best untuned was 8.4l/100km for a 450km highway trip. I expect to see it down in the high 7's for the same trip now.

Matt and I will probably catch up for a tweak when He's down in Feb for Targa, but as it is, anyone with a stock 3.0 Should have this "base" tune flashed in.

thats great feedback Rob.

When Matt makes a return to SA, I wouldnt mind a retweak of his tune to net some additional economy.
Cheers

+1, depending on the timing/notice I want in on this E85 goodness ;)
