Have been a bit quiet the last few weeks but busy with work, Lib currently in panel shop for a clean up and the WRC was a hefty week.

Hey Nathan the KCA399 mod is still good so id say a success at this stage, hope urs is all ok.

Exciting news today, look what arrived , install cant come quick enough hopefully all sorted and tuned within a couple of weeks.

S/C is the stage 1 aircooled kit with the new billet impeller for more low end torque.

Yeah really looking forward to this. Exhaust mods already done in prep should make it a really good package.
Just need to get Matt sorted for the base tune, some dyno time and some final safe tweaking. Aiming for a really linear torque curve

Researching and considering water/meth injection systems for really safe tune and good combustion chamber temps.
Any of u guys have any experience with water/meth kits. Seems they are very cost effective as compared to WTA intercooling.

Water meth requires an aftermarket computer on a (2.5t at least) to work as a power adder.
I'm still researching if it can be used effectively as a protective non-power adder (water inj) on the stock computer plus tune. If done properly it's a good thing for the engine

Yes that is my intention, mainly for the engine to run very safely, and maybe a little more power (more timing) with a sorted water/meth kit.

Matt has turned a S/C H6 Outback in brissy with a Water/Meth set up. Will try and contact the owner.

It can be used effectively but you need to use the IAM system as a failsafe. If WM runs out, IAM drops to zero deliberately to disable boost and run waste gate pressure plus pull all the timing out of KCA so that failsafe Primary Fuel and base timing are your 'pump fuel' tune and then the WM tune is in Primary.


In Grants case, it is easy to achieve as he has some extra tables in use

Based on the output of e.g. a low level sensor in the W/M tank?

IIRC some W/M kits also incorporate flow sensors as part of the failsafe strategy...

Devils Own Wat/Meth Injection Systems from the U.S, looked at these a while back just found the site again.
They seem impressive to me, not that that is saying too much. . A couple of system options available with many tanks and other upgrade parts.
Good with the $A getting closer to parity as well.

Yep exciting times with install not too far away and yes Im stoked with the stealthy anodised black finish on the components. Wont quiet look stock, but shouldn't
be all bling, bling either.

Jeez mate ur beast must be a thrill to drive. How long have you had it all sorted. Do u have a build thread for the beast?, I had a quick search but came up empty.

If u don't mind me asking is there any particular issues u had during and after install.
Did u get the base set-up before u went to intercooling.

Been about 6mths since I went down the intercooled path and apart from the s/c transmission belt needing replacing very soon, it's been great to drive and 98% issue free . I'm actually thinking about going down the billet impeller path but not 100% on the idea yet.

Yeah, I started with the air cooled raptor s/c kit like yours around 2.5yrs ago.. Fark time flies..

I'll send you a PM over the weekend with some of the issues I went through during install and the course of this journey.

Great to hear ur install and the whole Raptor S/C experience with ur H6 has been an awesome one. Im more confident now that it will all go well.

Yeah I waited a little longer on placing my order to get some more feedback from Tim on the billet impeller. Mostly fitted on V6 Holdens so far, but I was inspired
enough to make the upgrade with boost building earlier and pulling hard to redline. The impeller just looks impressive when u see it in the flesh.

Im going with Raptors supplied blue 440cc injectors, Matt(kido) says they have more than enough flow when matched with the DW65c fuel pump which I have also.

How many kays have u done in that those 2.5yrs.

Thanx Mick, yeah really busting for the install now. Lib has been delayed for a couple of days in panel shop . Stealership balls up im told but im not surprised.

It will be great to get it all sorted and have a car that drives and sounds a little different from the norm. Pretty sure it will be a unique build for this part of the
North Coast, no others that I know of any way.

Currently researching and getting up to speed with the water/meth systems. Very keen to go down this road purely for the engine safety aspect.
