What tyres are on your car and do you like them?

So I ended up getting a set of Pirelli P1 Cinturato's in 225/40/18 for $195ea fitted and balanced. Not exactly a performance tyre, but thought I'd give them a shot at that price for the family wagon.

Will post up a proper review once I've had a good chance to test them out.

Anyone had experience / feedback on Continental Sport Contact 5's, a place near me has em for $250 a tyre fitted and balanced. I currently have RE050's we all know what they're like.

That's really cheap for Sport Contact 5s...
I got my ContiMaxContact (the lower performance tyre in Conti's performance range) for $249 each which was at a factory discount!
Even through they're different tyres, I wouldn't hesitate to keep with Continental performance tyres in the future though

Been running the Michelin Pilot Super Sport for a while now - thought I'd share my feedback. Having done a track day at Wakefield Park recently as well I can say I'm really impressed with these tyres!

I have previously tracked the OEM Bridgestone Potenza RE050A's and the PSS is way better (which you would expect considering the price). I would buy them again despite the price tag.

Brand: Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Size: 225/45R18
Handling in Dry: Super
Handling in Wet: Excellent
Noise: Quiet in normal driving or on the highway. Bit of tyre squeal when pushing.
Value for Money: Not that good, I think they're around $450ea.

I have been using Yokohama ADVAN AD08's 215/45/R18

They're are specified as a road legal track tyre. Except they are extremely better then any road tyre in the wet or dry, and they have beaten proper racing semi slick track times at Tsukuba. They don't need to be warmed up to grip and they last as long as any high end road tyre. they have metal reinforced sidewalls so turn in is amazing, just fitting these will make your car feel as if it has had sway-bar upgrades. I will never buy another type of tyre these are the best of the best. RRP is a shit load though but it is worth every cent, and a new model AD08R are ment to be out real soon, the only difference will be the compound, the new ones will have the orange oil they have been marketing which apparently increases tyre life... also i haven't noticed excessive road noise but then again between my stereo and exhaust what am i going to hear first

I strongly recommend giving them a go especially if you do occasional track days!! The compound is so good heat cycles don't effect the molecular structure of the rubber so you don't have to worry about your tyres becoming brittle a week after a track day.

The most amazing thing about these tyres is wet performance, the deepness of the grooves mean the water doesn't have a chance to have any aquaplane effect because the pattern irrigates the water out of the contact zone. I going to buy these for my wife's Tiguan as soon as the factory tyres are gone, mainly because of the much increased levels of safety in the wet. Also you'll notice you only have to turn the wheel a fraction of what you would need to with any other tyre when cornering, it literally makes your feel like your car is on tracks because of the sidewalls. Plus they have a very square footprint the tread doesn't taper off towards the shoulders like normal tyres the AD08'S make the most of the width of the tyre. here is a pic of them on my old car... 215/45/R17

I managed to source 5 almost brand new Sport Contact 3's, 3 of which are MO (Mercedes Only) and appently better constructed. I knew they were a good all round tyre as they come as standard issue on quite a few Euro's, but i had no idea just how good they'd be.
Roll nicely and stick in the dry, but in the wet dayyymmm! Through the mountains on a wet road, they don't budge or make a peep.

I've had some quality tyres over the years and would almost go as far as saying these are the best.

I should mention i paid slightly more than $200 for all 5 tyres

+1 for ContiSport Contact 3's. Got them on my 05 LGT tbSTI. Been brilliant.

Had a tyre puncture this weekend, will be re-buying these for sure.

You'll probably have a hard time tracking down the 3's, as they've been replaced with the 5's. Pricey fuckers that they are, but just as good if not better.

Yeh have made a few phone calls this morning, so far no-one has the 3's ..

So it was one of my rear tyres that punctured. Is it alright to put 2 new tyres on rear and keep the 2 old ones up front? or vice versa? Or because we're AWD, should I replace all 4?

Some people do all 4 as a rule, but i think thats stupid. Replacing 2 only will be fine if you aren't a obsessive compulsive

Ok thanks. Can't really afford all 4 atm :\ also have a A/F Ratio Sensor to replace.

You should bolt the two new ones onto the front for grip so 2 new tyres front to back

also did you drive very long on the puncture and/or is the puncture on sidewall? Otherwise get a repair for around 35 bucks

and you don't need all 4 replaced as the difference in tread depth is minimal to make any difference its only when your changing size that it can be an issue
