Yes, there is 2 different ways you can go about it.

1 - using the 3.5mm headphone jack to the AUX in of the head unit.
2 - run your audio through a USB DAC connecting it to the head unit using AV in and a 2 channel RCA interconnect. This is the way I did it.

Ok got my hard disk issue fixed, turned out that usb hub was faulty. All good now :D

Btw, I was looking around for a bluetooth remote to control media while driving and found below adapter though kogan website.

http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/home-stereo ... oth-audio/

Only issue was tablet first started streaming music through bluetooth when connected, so I used an app called SoundAbout to direct all media audio through headset jack and using media button control app to control bluetooth adapter buttons to control music for apollo. Works well now if anyone is looking to implement something similar.

Has anyone tried installing the 2nd Gen Nexus 7 tablet with the JDM / Japanparts fascia ("CENTER PANEL & BRACKET SET")
https://www.japanparts.com/db/parts_det ... RCH_page=3

I notice that it's slightly longer (198 x 120 x 10.4mm for 1st Gen -VS- 200 x 114 x 8.65mm for 2nd Gen)

Debating between getting the 3g 32GB 1st gen for $269: http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/google-nexu ... bile-data/
Or the 16GB 2nd Gen (non 3g/4g) for $249: http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/google-nexu ... 16gb-wifi/

I'd prefer to have data over having to tether the phone everytime I get in the car - especially as I'd like to use the tablet primarily for Internet radio and maps - but on the other hand, the better processor + extra GB RAM will make a huge difference to performance and will be better future-proofing for an install which might not be easy to remove. So far I can't find any news on a 3g/4g 2nd gen in Australia, so I'm guessing it might be a while away as it just got released in the US??

I've got a 2nd Gen and which is definitely longer and narrower.

There has been stock floating around at various retailers - just need to call ahead and demand is high and certain models tend to run out quickly (for reference I bought mine from JB).

Pretty sure by default it will auto connect to your phone's hot-spot so long as you leave hot-spot activated on on your phone

Hey all,

I'm well under way with my Nexus install... I've just drawn up a bezel for un-between the nexus and the fascia.

Any thoughts - the main reason was to eliminate the silver edges of the nexus from being seen.

I've called a few plastics and steel places, and they will make one up for around 26-55 dollars.

Cheers,

I Did this nexus install about 5 months ago works flawlessly, music with power amp, charging never goes below 90%.
Only thing is, is there a way to connect an iPhone to the tablet so i can answer phone calls via Bluetooth and sound through the tablet?

Also im running my sound through the AUX port which kinda shits me, with this USB DAC, what inputs does the Macintosh head unit have to get sound from? i thought the aux port uses the only input available??

Yeah, the tablet will pick up the hotspot like a wireless network automatically.... but it's impractical to leave a wireless hotspot on all the time as it will flatten most phones in 2hrs.... and remembering to turn on and off is annoying.
..... unless there was a way that the tablet can tell the phone to activate a hotspot when the two are in range (~5m?), and disconnect when out of range?

1. Maybe an app?

2. I believe this answers your question: http://electric-design.com/FSL-01.html

Currently, Bluetooth for iPhone is not compatible with Bluetooth for Android annoyingly!!

As for the hotspot, android has an app called Tasker. If your phone is android then use Tasker to turn on hotspot functionality when it does something eg. connects to the Bluetooth of your head unit if available.

Also you could get an nfc tag to do it as well, assuming your phone supports nfc

This is very similar to how mine operates.
phone sees my bluetooth kit, tasker turns on hotspot IF phone is charging, tablet connects.
