Rob Roy Grass Motorkhana - the dustbowl.

We had the final MG Car Club competition last Sunday.
My MGA is off the road for a few weeks, it seized a big end bearing at the last competition, so the engine is in bits right now :(
I competed in the Liberty instead as a bit of fun, and hoped the AWD would be a bonus, as this same event was very slippery last year. This year was totaly different, dust instead of damp grass.

The motorkhana patterns were challenging. There were six, and you only got one run at each. I was leading the "non-marque" class by two seconds after the first three, but then stuffed up the last three coz I was having too much fun.

AWD is great for a quick take off on slippery dust

Here's something you don't often see. The tyre must have rolled slightly off the rim, and allowed some grass to get between the tyre and the rim. I had to have the tyre taken off and put back on on Monday.

(and it took me about three hours to clean the car and vacuum out all the dust :S )

You can see the results down the bottom of http://www.mgcc.com.au/competition/2006comp13.htm

I have the lowest time for tests 1, 2, and 3, but the "WD" means I didn't follow the set pattern correctly in 4, 5, and 6...

Only the wheel which got grass in it.
I had to take it back again today, still had a slow leak. They said there's normally a thin coating of wax where the bead contacts the rim, but my wheel was dry when they took it off again.
They've put some more on, and tested it in a water tank for 5 minutes. Supposedly it's fine now.
