Finally........

Introduce yourself

Finally........

Postby Deeks » Thu Sep 19, 2013 5:27 pm

Ciao all... new to the forum.

after some two years I'm finally the owner of a Liberty GT Spec B STI...

The following criteria had to be met during my search..

MY08
Auto (the ball and chain doesn't drive manual after repeated attempts to instruct her in the Rex)
White
Usual cosmetic and mecnahical checks (of course)

So the way I figured it, considering only 250 were made, (calculating the wagon, colour and transmission decriments), I only had about 25 to choose from Oz wide.

Noticed the ad on Carsales and within 2 hours arranged an inspection. Test drove it and 15 minutes later placed a deposit. 3 days later it was mine... ALL MINE (insert evil version of the Count from Sesame Street's laugh)

Now for the mods....

Very subtle and conservative for now...
Looking at an ECU reflash for some better economy and power.
I'd also like a louder exhaust note.... but not convinced yet..

Will definately need some advice on this front as I'm not only a newbie to the forum but also to the world of mods. After owning a Rex for 15 years since new... never touched it. Still in stock standard condition.

Does anyone else feel like the Libs almost sound "diesel'ish" from inside the cabin at idle?

Stock tune has 5 degrees of variable cam advance, set it back to 0, tweak the idle timing values and smooth idle again :)

The secret is to never let the revs drop below 4000rpm. Idling is for suckers.
