Tis a bitch of a job.
including cleaning them with a wire brush, it probably took 3-4 "slow" hours

Worth taking your time doing it though. I think I had my car up on jacks for about 3-4 days to do mine. I didn't take them off the car though because I wasn't sure how to bleed the brakes etc, but they aren't brembos so no big deal.
jay.ritchie wrote:3-4 days haha! My process was pretty smooth, i took the pads off, cleaned the callipers with a wire brush drill bit (worked well) then masked up and painted. The only bit i didn't paint was the backside, but no ones ever going to know!
Its one of those jobs that is annoying, but worth it at the end.
chaotic2050 wrote:I painted as much of the rear as I could, and I did 2 coats which required about 12 hours drying time. Did rear first then front after, that's why it took 3-4 days. I wasn't using the car though so wasn't a hassle.
I notice you didn't mention anything about sanding? That's what took most of my actual work time, getting them nice and smooth. They still look perfect 2 years later

Has to be the nicest 3.0 wagon !!
That colour combo with the rims and black ....MUCH better then black.!!
jay.ritchie wrote:What paint did you use? VHT has to have 1 light, then 2 medium coats within an hour. And the paint is basically set a few hours later.
Nah i wasn't keen on the sanding idea (too lazy). I've painted brakes using VHT before, and noticed a nice finish can be achieved depending on how you spray them, so mine ended up pretty smooth. Again- not immaculate, but pretty good.
