Brisbane Audio Installers - HELP!

Postby Silverspool » Thu Sep 05, 2013 3:06 pm

Hey Guys,
In a bit of a jam. After finding compatibility issues with the Anycarlink unit for the Mcintosh Stereo in my 07 GT SpecB with Sat nav, i decided it was worth investigating some options for a replacement double din H/U, to include a USB port. At this stage i'm finding very limited options for reputable retailers in Brisbane who confidentially say they are also able to carry out the install. The other thing is, i'm getting conflicting information....some say the amp needs to be replaced and others say i can maintain the factory AMP. I hear good things about Northfield Moorooka so i contacted them and they are wanting to charge me $2,500K! That was to cover a H/U, fascia Kit, wiring and installation. I think it's expensive seeing as they were quoting $900- alone for the fascia and $1000 for the head unit. Surely there are some better value options available. I understand that Garage88 supply a fasica kit for my model car and they are quoting $410-. Can anyone shed some light on why there would be such a large variation in price? I'm willing to spend between $1200-$1500 all up and was hoping that could include a reasonable quality/priced H/U, fascia (which i could purchase myself), all the relevant wiring, installed...I want to maintain my factory sat nav and steering wheel controls...i'm not chasing competition quality upgrade, simply double din that has usb functionality.

Some help would be gratefully received as i seem to be going around in circles at the moment due to my limited knowledge of car audio  ...

Have you had a look at the GROM units by any chance? I recall reading somewhere that some macintosh systems are compatible.

Hey mate,
I haven't really considered GROM because of all the issues I've been hearing about with them. Might look into that as an option though. Thanks

Northfield are pretty decent. Tell them you will supply your own fascia, tell them your remaining budget and ask what they can do.

Thanks for the advice, i might see if they have a more value-for-money option with the head unit...

Don't quote me but I remember something about them installing a double DIN into someones liberty on here. Give Chris a ring and see what he can do for you.
