Ive cleaned a few throttle bodies before, never on a boxer and never with fly by wire, cant imagine it'd be too different though might give it a go on the weekend!

Dont open the flap manually while its plugged in with fly by wire. You dont really need to open the flap anyway if you take the throttle body off.

Nah I have an old gen 2 lib. Cable throttle.

Then you can open it as much as you like i guess.

Yeah I was talkin more in the sense of when I clean them at work for similar issues. (Work at a subaru dealer)

Threw the fault again last night where it shakes badly and engine + cruise light flash, turn it off then on and it goes away... Will try get it plugged it soon, how can I read the codes??

Had injectors cleaned and serviced at the service yesterday, flowed perfectly apparently, still hunts on idle haha, going to get the top mount off and clean the throttle body tomorrow

I have had my car for 3 weeks and It has done this twice, the last time it shook the whole car badly where I thought it was going to die. I took mine down to to a subaru specialist who plugged it into the scanner. He said that one of the Variable Valve Timers wasn't working (passenger side) he unplugged it and cleaned all the shit out of it clogging it up. Put it back in and the fault was gone.

It's been driving fine ever since and it only cost me $30
