$90 per side, part replaced every 100,000kms. Really not worth worrying about. Just replace at timing belt time or whenever required.

Possibly longer oil change intervals are exacerbating the issue. So change oil more frequently for preventative maintenance.

And finally, save foil for toasted sandwiches..

Mine arrived today (4 working days after ordering) - paid for the express service for an extra $10. Not bad from the USA.

Question - when fitting new OCV's, are there any necessary steps like putting a thin film of oil on the gasket or the OCV itself, etc?

the are is pretty oily anyway but a little on the o rings will help.

try leave the airpump on and just undo the big connectors instead.

keep the old OCV's for experimentation/degaussing

Couldn't get to the OCV bolts without unbolting the airpump, unclamping the airpump pipe and shifting it all to the side. I think the whole process will be quicker the second time around

Its just one OCV bolt you need to access.
Having said that I got the banjo out too but cannot remember moving the airpump at all.

The oil filler gotta go though.

As per this pic. The big grey plug: unclip it, and get it bent around out of the way on both sides...


You can see the plug holder to the right hand side in this pic.

Meaning all the goodies are underneath...

That's the OCV retainer bolt to the top and the banjo bolt (removed) lower.
I just wanted to confirm that there was no filter inside and there is none (postFL).
The bracket there is the upper stabilizer bolt for the oil filler pipe.
You can see the airpump tube still in place at the lower edge of the frame.

New OCV's in. The RH and LH sides are definitely more evenly matched now on the logs. Much quicker doing it the 3rd time around

Did jakes on the weekend:
TIP: use a thin blunt flat head to start lifting off the PCV crossover hoses, preferably on a warm car.
Once the hose is lifted a little, use a bigger flat head (twisting the tip) to lift the hose further, then prop the screwdriver tip again with the end of a ring spanner and twist again, easing off the hose.

We tried to yank it off cold and split the hose a little at its base...
