Modded Liberty B4

Postby MadRX » Wed Aug 14, 2013 8:43 am

Hi,

Picked up this lil number Monday. These are just pics from the advertisement. It's in truly immaculate cond other than a chip on right rear quarter & a tiny dent barely noticeable on the left. Drives like a dream (once I familiarised myself with the close ratio gear change & single turbo characteristics etc as this is the first Sooby I've owned). Will throw up a few of the single T conversion later this morning if I can. Also a bit of info on tasteful mods etc. Just need to flush/change engine oil & check the diff oils & fluids first:

Thrilled to be able to share with other Sooby guyz 8)

Thanks guyz! No, I live down here in the cold with the Penguins haha. I usually find a car in Sydney if there's a better one than here, due to the annual slips. Well kept cars etc. This was really looked after by previous owner so I'm stocked.

The seats I don't know about to be honest. Of course they hug you but, woulda liked to try the orig' leather ones out for comfort. On a long trip, they'd be nice 8) Think these'll grow on me.

Nice car mate and I saw this for sale and I am glad it has gone to another suby lover :) and to be honest after having both types of seat the cloth ones are better cause I slide about in the leather ones :P

Ah then, that's good to know. The leather do look the part though. It just takes some getting used to with these seats & they are growing on me. So does the 4WD steering. Until now, I have only owned big RWD & FWD cars, turbo & Na. Never had oversteer before

There's another selling in QLD. Finished in around 14hrs. I woulda thought you'd see these on Carsales & not EBay but there you go :?:

haha, sure but, was moreso referring to the lil Fwd's I've owned. You almost depended on understeer. Haven't owned smaller RWD's for quite a while....prolly didn't make myself clear enough sorry. Predictable oversteer say from a RWD Commodore is easy to correct was where I was coming at. I found this Sooby oversteered this once as I turned too sharp into a roundabout & needed to correct it & it seemed a tad jerky when correcting. Does that make sense? Sorry for the confusion & a good lesson learnt for me. You get too relaxed with years of understeer Fwd's

Do you mean ther seller who just sold ot to me? I was after info from the owner prior, who did the conversion/tune etc. Last owner did tell me the piggyback brand but I wasn't familiar with the name so, have forgotten it.....

It's official lol.....I'm over this notchy #$%@ gearbox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I grind 4th one more %^$# time haha...........is it true there is some sort to plate between clutch & flywheel that stops the clutch from fully engaging? Was told this from one guy that's all. Told me you can remove it?

I preferred the close ratio box in my ol' MX5 any day.

Rant over :|

Does it have an aftermarket short shifter in it? In my old Foz, forth gear required good timing and firm positive force to get it into gear nicely without grinding.

Don't think so paggaz but, I haven't access nto another to compare. The suspension is so stiff I'm leaning towards it being changed. I just don't know these cars well enough yet.

On one site it's mentioned apparently, these 5MT's are infamous for this happening, especially when getting older & just require a cocktail mix of gearoil. Redline & Motul. A Pennzoil & Valvoline Synth mix was also recommended. I'm just taking it easy for now & see
