Well the results are in.... 193.6kw @ the wheels. On 19.5 psi.
I was a little disappointed to not reach 200 but its all she had according to MSR. in saying that though falling 6kw short is nothing and after driving it im completely impressed with the gains!! And when I upload the graph youll see thst there is zero difference in lag which made me very happy! I learnt a few interesting things from Michael re exhausts but ill go into that later when im back home :D

Nice, the difference between mine and yours will be the EL headers.
It adds lag but gives more mid range and top end.
I think I would trade some top end for better low end response.

Yeah i was hoping for a bit more... but cant do much if thats all the car will do. The new dyno graph shows my old tune vs my new tune, and it has gains at all of the rev range so you can definitely feel the improvements.

When i think about it 200kw might have been a tall order for an auto with my mods, as you have headers and a better top mount... others like bass straightener have bigger injectors and fuel pump as well and his is a manual.

As for exhausts, he was explaining to me that after market mufflers arent always the best for everybody.. he was saying that bigger mufflers like mine (and almost everyones on here) make the throttle less responsive, so in city driving conditions standard mufflers make the car have almost instant throttle response. He said hes driven GT autos with only 175kw and stock mufflers that feel much faster and more fun in city.

He was also explaining that after market top mounts are no good in city conditions either as they are heavier and take longer to cool down, so in stop start driving like sydney, they get too hot. He said the stock top mount with a water spray is the best set up for stop start driving.

I was talking to him about headers.. he said that if i was to do it he'd prefer the EL like yours as it gains you 5% torque.. where as the UEL gained you top end power. But to be honest i dont think ill bother with headers. Its amazing how much faster it feels... it feels like a 50kw gain. Id need someone who knows more about dyno graphs than me to explain why that is... but its a huge improvement.

ill post the dyno graph in a second.

It's all about the bum dyno and the size of the smile, my daddy always said. : )
If it feels 50kW quicker, and 50kW more fun, the actual number is arbitrary. I just put new wheels on my car today and it feels at least 10kW each (incl the spare : ) more fun :yahoo:

Good luck with those last 6kW tho ! The 200Club calls...

Good result Adam and no lag :)

What else can you do on stock internals to get 200?

Also isn't the psi a bit high ?

I can do headers, intercooler, injectors and fuel pump... that would get just over 200 but I dont think ill bother.

The psi is about right... some people run 20psi on the VF52.

Not sure if you really need to upgrade injectors or fuel pump unless you go E85.
Mick would let you know if your injectors andpump were leaning out and needed to be upgraded.
Depending what type of driving you are regularly doing, I would only upgrade the intercooler.

I dont think ill do any more performance mods... its a great drive as it is!

Im just going to focus on some handling mods now... sway and LCA bushes. Ive got new rotors and pads to go on in about a week too.

Im not too worried about the heads lifting... Its a very common boost pressure to run on the 2.5's. If it was at a risk of lifting heads id just put in new head studs.

That's a bloody nice improvement there Adam. Well done mate. Geez I bet its real fun to drive now.

As for your earlier comments from MSR regarding exhausts and TMIC. I am thinking along these lines myself. As in keeping the stock TMIC, using a spray system, and changing the exhaust/dump but keeping the stock mufflers considering I use the car for city driving 95% of the time. For me, drive ability is key. Around town its better to try and maintain it as much as possible. Although, I am unsure how one would achieve 175kwatw with stock TMIC and mufflers.

But as far as your results are concerned mate, your within a bee's whisker of getting into the 200 club. Which in my opinion is amazing for an auto.
Cheers

According to MSR, keeping the stock mufflers is the best for responsiveness so that would be exactly what you need. 175kw would definitely be achievable or close to achievable on stock mufflers. Bare in mind he said stock mufflers, not stock exhaust.

Mine is great fun to drive... but although the dyno graph shows no difference in lag, it definitely feels slightly less responsive now... theres just the slightest bit of hesitation before it takes off.

Matt from Kido and MSR were kind enough to explain to me why it feels a lot more powerful than a 13kw gain.. aparently the car has gained a heap more torque in the mid range even though the peak torque remained the same... so that could explain the difference in the bum dyno as Lorren puts it. And you can really feel that extra torque when you turn out of an intersection and plant it.. even in the dry it wants to break traction a bit.
