Trying to install Coilovers but can't get the stock set up o

Tried putting some wd40 on there and still can't get them loose, they won't budge at all. Does anyone have any tips on getting these off?

A big fuck off breaker bar for maximum leverage. I actually has to use heat (a blowtorch) to undo mine the first time.

I assume you are referring to the largest of the bolts. They can be a bit of a bitch.

If you aren't using a breaker bar, go to supercheap or equivalent and get one, then use breaker bar + wd40 + elbow grease.

Also, remove the brake line from the strut first to reduce the risk of stretching the lines.

Yep those two are always a bitch, especially the lower one - try letting them soak in WD40 for a few mins the bust out a breaker bar.

Ideally if you had someone else to try and rotate the bolt in the opposite direction that would be a bit easier to crack them.

Breaker bar with a lump of pipe hanging off the end of it.

Works every time.



PS I hope you have the car sitting on a set of jack stands, not just the jack.

Soak em in wd40 for a few hours then attack them with a breaker bar

Hammer on the handle of a 17mm ring spanner or jack handle over spanner.

Thanks for all of the tips, we ended up getting a drill for $60 that is making this so much easier. Fronts are done, working by torch light now because of this weather, real shame I won't be able to test them out yet.

You used a drill to undo 6 bolts are you serious?

I've just moved out so I figure it's useful to have one for future use anyway.

Nah I didn't mean it like that. Drills are useful tools but how did you use one to undo the bolts
