Pics of all my old cars. 25 yrs in cars.

So I went through my photo albums and was pleased to find pics of all my old cars (bar some not worth knowing).

1974 Ford TC Cortina

Image

My first car. Look at those balloon tyres! How easy was it to smoke those up with the torque of a 250 ci (4.1ltr) and 4 speed! We'd also added the rare 2V head with larger valves and separate inlet manifold. Would not go around corners.

1972 Ford XA GT

Bought this as a rolling shell. An original GJ 33 GT but we then used the running gear from an LTD. 351 4V, FMX auto and 9" disc rear end. So the numbers never matched. Sounded glorious but terrible fuel economy, 15 mpg was the best it could do and even though we were paying about 40c per litre it still hurt!

Next the Mazda years,

1981 Mazda RX7 S1

What a revelation after the GT. It was quick and nimble and got twice the fuel economy. Much younger me on the passenger side.

1983 Mazda RX7 S2

Image

Same again but now I was needing more power...

1986 Mazda RX7 turbo S4

Image
Had this one for 12 years and ended up like this,

With a full house S4 13 B REW motor.

Really fun car, still miss the rotor.

1987 VL

Everyone's had one of these haven't they? A 5 speed.

1986 BMW 323i

Image
Nice but every service cost $800-! Another 5 speed.

Next some Subies,

Best photo of a Kluger you're going to find! Good family car.

2007 Liberty GT

Probably didn't need a pic of this but here I am with it at the end of a cruise.

Thanks guys!

That's 26 years of motoring so far... Some cars were 'family cars' my wife mostly drove. These were the VL, BMW, Liberty RX and the Kluger.

The 13B was the most fun car, as I said I had it 12 years. The motor alone was $12K worth. Approx 240kW ATW @12psi. I know it made more with a few tweaks by the next owner whom I still catch up with.

I bought the car for $28K in 1991 and sold it in 2003 for $22.5K. Would have spent over $20+K over all those years but learnt a lot.

Cars not listed were an old 720 Dato ute and a 90's B2600 ute and a mid 70s Corona Mk2.
