Hey all.
After endless hours, days, weeks and even MONTHS of scouring Carsales I finally found myself a car I liked at a price I could afford

On Tuesday I'm picking up my very own 2.5 manual Liberty with 1 owner, a full service history and only 95,000 K's !!
I'm too old to be boy racer-ing it up too much, the main thing I'm going to do to it at this stage is getting better comfort and handling from it. (for now )
Anywho, looking forward to learning from and perhaps meeting some of you in the future.

I've found my 2.5 to be very pleasing, hope you love it
Only downside is it's a pre-facelift so you got the Hitachi ECU instead of the Denso.

With all the searching on performance I've done over the last couple of weeks since seeing this car, this is the first I've heard of the diff ecu's.
I take it the Denso is the better of the two.
Do you happen to know if they're interchangeable?

The Denso is a tuneable ecu, the Hitachi isn't.

Thank guys. So far I've done nothing but LIVE on these forums the last couple of day
So much useful info and so much temptation in the classifieds, just a shame buying the car has bled me dry

I'm kind if embarrassed to post pics atm because I tinted the car day I purchased it and want to give it a good solid few days of curing before splashing water everywhere.
Suffice to say it looks filthy!
Oh, and the previous owner butchered the alloys to within an inch of their life so it pretty much looks like any other MY06 silver wagon cruising the streets.

So on the list of things to do, I've ticked off 1 and somehow ended up with another 2

Front lip plus a grill edit Makes a world of difference to the look of the front. It's on my list of to-do's.

One thing I will say on the excel, it handles corners like it's on fkn rails !!
With no mods except alloys and wider tyres, that thing has next to no body roll and really struggles to loose any traction when taking bends at speed.
It's just GETTING that speed that's the problem

Yeah I've seen some grills on here that I like, especially this waffle grill that was on a facelift model. Doesn't look like I can get them for mine though.

Yea I did. Was a cheap alternative to buying something aftermarket. Looks cool at night, kind like the badge is floating lol. I actually really like it, will look nice once a lip is added.
I'm a big fan of the mesh/honey comb style though, so that will be on the cards one day.

I think the black looks awesome on Post FL.
I had mine black for a while before I hacked it into a mesh grill.
The grill plus the front lip really makes the front end a lot nicer

Ideally I'd like the aftermarket bumper that's in the classifieds. THAT thing is nice, but it'd be kinda wasted on an NA 2.5 I reckon.
Jayraddd how did your car sound with just the resonator taken off? I wouldn't mind a deeper warble coming from the exhaust without sounding like a w@nker

I agree Kody.B. Just had a look around and it DEFF makes a difference!

Does anyone know if there's like a Grill database showing the different styles floating around?
