Seeking some info.

Postby ace.k » Tue Jul 23, 2013 12:29 am

Im doing an upgrade on my whole system so new head unit, sub, amp and speakers and doing it all with a mate. Was just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to rip off all the door trims, seat and so on. And also if i should know anything about the wiring that would be different from doing say a standard car Eg: VE Commodore.

Or if can anyone send me there system setups and how they went along with installing it and what products they used.
Any help would be appreciated. =)

I drive an 06 Spec b Liberty.

with products it depends what your budget is really. are you installing a new headunit aswell? if so youll need the facia kit to go with it. pulling the car apparts quite simple just have to be patient, dont want to be ripping things off and breaking parts. back seat has a few clips just lifts out and 3 screws, door trim have about 4 srews some are tricky to get to they are behind the door handle. the dash comes appart quite easy theres a thread in the How To section.

All car audio is pretty much the same mate, if youve done it in a previous car you shouldnt have a problem. the trickiest part for me was wiring the steering wheel control module so i could work the steering wheel controls on the aftermarket system.

if you have any dramas feel free to ask for help.

yeah ive got the fascia went around to get quotes for someone else to do the system and they were just over charging on the labour and parts.
Found some great speakers, amps, and subs online for a lot cheaper than average speakers i saw in the audio shops. might just be buying my head unit from here so i can see which fits perfectly with the fascia.

Where'd ya grab the steering wheel module or is it already in the car just rewiring it to new HU?

The harness to wire in to the head unit is the same for the Impreza as it is for the Liberty so the wheel control harness may be the same also.

I had issues with the harness I had purchased and couldn't get the correct one so I emailed these guys - http://www.caraudio.com.au/forums/index ... ection=new and they were a massive help! Tell them what you need and they should know.

No worries mate..

I've got walkthroughs for removing the door trims and I also typed one up for installing a double din head unit as well if you need it.

Not a lot  I do believe I have read it on here somewhere; tried a search? 30wrms for the sub & 15-20 for the front/rears IIRC.

getting this alpine amp pumping out 90 wrms at 2ohms so might aswell make use of it haha.

Any good speakers you would recommend.

The plan is splits at the back and new speakers at the front (6") and ill prob be still running the tweeters and disconnecting the 4" speakers or what ever they are. Ive heard ive got a squeaker wtf is that? lol never heard of it lmao.

I've got some alpine ddlinear coaxial speakers that I'm looking at selling. They are a good replacement for the rears.

In a few weeks I'll also have a set of Hertz HSK165s that I'll be selling. 125W RMS splits. Sound great

Let me know if either of the above interest you.
