Speedo signal wire needed - 06 3RB

HI all,

My speedo is out by around 10% as confirmed by GPS. I'd rather fix it than leave it as is, so have just finished putting together the Jaycar speedo corrector kit.

I'm hoping to wire it up this weekend, but am needing some confirmation on the signal wire to intercept. Vehicle is 06 3RB.

According to this thread - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20283&p=286799&hilit=speedo+wire#p286799 (yes the model is for 08GT, but it's the closest I could find on the internets) - the speedo plug is B13, however I can't find anything to confirm this.

My a service manual I have for an 04 3RB, it looks to be pin A19 - see diagram below.



Hoping someone shed any light on this!

Looking at the diagram you posted, Id say the speedo signal is sent via the CAN system (Engine computer receives signal, sent on high speed CAN to body computer (gateway) and then low speed CAN to dash cluster) as with most newer cars.
A19 may be for a warning lamp or similar as it has a diode in that line.

I doubt the 'speedo corrector' will solve your problem.


I quite like the -10% feature, makes me think I'm speeding when I'm not.

All I need is to figure out which is the final speed signal wire that inputs to the cluster, I'm confident the corrector will solve the issue.

So A19 may not be the signal wire then. I'd be keen to hear from someone who has done a HUD too!

If possible, I'd like to throw this in today, but want to be at least 80% sure before cutting wires!

If it bothers you that much, I think you would be better off intercepting the signal from the speedo sensor on the gearbox. Typically they produce either a sine wave (two wire inductive pickup) or a square wave (three wire hall effect) signals.

Im assuming there is a gearbox sensor, if not then it will use the average of the four wheel speed sensors.

So why cant four of these be used for vecicle speed?

The HUD is a good solution as it doesn't mess with your odometer as its passive...
