ej22 to ej20t conversiion

Postby ini12345 » Sat Jul 20, 2013 4:15 pm

Hi guys

This has probably been asked before but but i cant find a topic on it?

I have a gen2 liberty wagon with a ej22 engine and i want to get a bit more poke. How hard would it be to transplant an ej20t into the car? what else would i have to change? would the stock gearbox be able to handle the increase in hp with 8psi? how hard would the wiring be to change over? Or if i were to have a mechanic do all the work, how much would i possibly be looking at?

Cheers guys any response and info will be appreciated :D

If you want a turbo Gen II hunt around and find an imported Legacy and start from there. There's a few around and should cost you less than what it will to change the engine over. Unless you are going to do the work yourself you are looking at $5000 minium just to get your half cut, the engines changed over, and the car running. You'll then have to do the required upgrades to get it engineered, brakes, suspension, etc. The standard gearbox won't be up to task but a decent half cut should come with box and matching diff. There's a lot of work to do and it's not really something you can doing in your back yard with the help of a book. Not trying do be a downer just being realistic.
