235 is def too wide a tyre for a 8.5"inch +40 offset for standard height.

are you planning on lowering?

18 x 8.5 +40 is alright on a 225/40 if you roll the rears at standard height. if you lower and add slight camber it wil look much better though

Hey Blacktop, I'm not planning on lowering the car though. Will give a miss on these wheels. So if i get 18x8.5 45+ offset, would it be a better fit with 235/40 18s?

With stock suspension and height, I wouldnt be going more than an 18 x 8 +45 with a 225/40/18.

Thanks cruisn, if i go with 18x8 +45 with 225/40 do you think there will be a gap between tyre and guard? or will they fill guards? thinking of Enkei Kojin I can either get 18x8 +45 or 18x8.5 +45.

With standard suspension, no matter what wheel width you go there will be tyre gap.

It will be more noticeable with wider wheels.

I also have a Question if it can be answered ASAP. Im looking at a set of rims 18x8.5+48 for my 2008 3.0R sedan. suspension is stock atm one day will get coilovers and roll guards if needed, but i want to know if i will have any problems with rubbing either inside or outside without rolling guards? im also concerned about how close the inside of the rim will be to the rear suspension arm and links? the first set of tyres for them will be 215/45/R18 but oneday i want 235/40/r18??? please help!

Nope you'll shit it in. I was running 18x8.5 +46 with 235s before I lowered it and rolled and flared all my guards, and it was fine. Fronts poked a bit so you'd be maxing the front camber bolts but you'll be absolutely fine. Cleared the struts just fine.

You'll also find suprisingly little tyre stretch with the 215's due to the taller 45 series profile.
