Does anyone have any tips on how to repair this?

Postby circlethesky » Sat Jun 29, 2013 9:37 am

Went down a really steep hill while leaving a car park last night and tore a chunk of paint off my front bumper.
My heart sank as soon as I heard my bumper scrape and seeing the damage makes me pretty upset as it's the first major mark I have left on there.

It's not worth the $300 it would cost to paint the whole bumper and I wouldn't do that anyway because unless the colour match is perfect I would never be happy with it.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this any better?

I know it isn't that bad but every time I look at my car I immediately see the spot where it is not perfect. Image

I should add my car is still at stock height.

Yeah it guts you when you hear those sounds hey?

Any competent spray painter will be able to rub that back and blow it through in that area only within an hour

Do you have any spray painter mates / colleagues? Should not cost more than 100 bucks to do

I don't but I'll ask around and see if any of mates know someone. Problem is no one is open on weekends!

Thanks buddah you'll find I was asking about getting it fixed.

I work weekdays so unless I take a day off work I'll have to find someone open weekends.

Yes please could you try and get them to give my car a free detail while it's there too?

I bought a front lip but when I put it on it looked way too big and bulky but I might try again once it's lowered.

Spray the bottom edge black the whole way around the bar. Than put the lip on.

I got it from on the run in Clayton, it doesn't look bad in this picture but when you see it on the whole car it really looks out of place.

Yeah nice one, heaps of us have those haha. I had an OTR one too but went for genuine.

They do seem a little odd at first, but really grows on you.. Had mine off for a little while and it looked naked

Do you find the genuine lip to be more subtle?
As in is it less chunky and noticeable?
