+1, I'm running stock (STi) suspension and it fills the guards just enough. With 235/40/18 one side of my car the rear wheel scrubs VERY lightly, but only when I hit a bump mid corner driving pretty hard.



Your speedo will be off with 225/40/18. But it'll actually bring it closer to the correct speed. If you were to check your speedo against your GPS you'd find they're usually about 8% out. So it'd be more like 6% out with the bigger wheels/tyres.

I was running 225/40/18's on mine with no scrubbing at all.

Been looking around for different wheels so far and I quite like these ones, however offset is 45+, would they fit perfect compared to previous one with 48+ offset?

Good choice! I was tempted to buy a set of these in silver myself. With a 225 tyre it should clear, with a 235 tyre you might be pushing it...

225 will leave the rim a little exposed on an 8" rim. 235 is pretty flat, I'd personally prefer 245 for a bit of protection but they're expensive

Thanks mate. You can also get same wheel in 8.5 as well. Would that be better with 225? or worse compared to 8" rim?

found these ones as well. They are 18x8.5 40+ offset. I have been advised that they will straight fit with liberty and no need to roll guards or anything. Recommended tyre size is either 225/40 or 235/40. What do you guys think?

Need help guys

I can pick up these ones http://www.jdmyard.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=143&product_id=713 for $899. They are 18x8.5 offset +40. Do you think they will fit with either 225/40 18ins or 235/40 18ins with stock suspension?

Way too wide for standard suspension, and the offset is too high (wheel towards the guard). They'll stick out of the guards at the front and probably rub all round.

For reference, this is a 18x8.5" +44 rim with a 225/45/18 tyre and you can see it sticks out at the front. The wheels you're looking at will stick out another 4mm.

18x8.5" +44 rim with a 225/45/18 tyre is perfect rim face side, but unsure as to whether it'd clear the standard struts.
This WOULD NOT scrub on the guard at all if the car isn't lowered. Even if lowered, minimal camber would see the tyre well clear of the guard.

Thanks guys, so If I put 225/40 18ins with 18x8.5 +40 it will still scrub on the rear and I will definitely need to roll the guards? should I not buy these wheels then? is rolling guards a big job? and something not harmful to the car?

What would you guys recommend? stay away from this wheel size and try to find a 18x8 or 18x8.5 with at least +45 offset?
