E85 is an option for the future.

I believe the Blouche 440XT is another verison of the TD05-18G, and Blouche have a good reputation - but they're not cheap...

Jackson ran a Kando TD05-18G before his engine rebuild and got 217kw.
A VF52 would have done similar numbers with the same supporting mods.
I was considering one but MSR said they are cheaply made, won't last big kms and are very fiddly to fit.
Jackson has since upgraded to a Blouch BB turbo since the rebuild but should be able to give you good advice on Kando.

The more I hear, the more I keep coming back to the VF52... :)

MSR mentioned that the Blouch turbos are good, but he has to run a bit more boost on them to get the same power. Interested to hear which of the Blouch BB turbos Jackson has though, and his thoughts... :)

Mick always said he gets more torque per PSI on a VF52 than most turbos.

Jackson's build thread is a good read.

And is installed. It wasn't 100% smooth, but all good in the end.

I'd take photos, but the DSLR is goodness only knows where, and I dropped my mobile yesterday and it's currently in for insurance assessment.

Basically, the stock unit boost port is angled at about 60º to the mounting flange, whereas the TurboSmart Kompact Plumb-back is at 90º to the mounting flange. Getting it to fit meant basically stretching the boost line a little, which, to be fair, took about 10 minutes (I figured out I had to mount the boost line onto the hose, then stretch it out and mount it onto the side of the TMIC).

The vacuum line does rotate freely, so that wasn't an issue in terms of fitting, though the stock vacuum line is a bit big for the Kompact BOV. Basically, the vacuum line connector on the stock BOV isn't barbed but is a snug fit in the line, and I assume vacuum holds it on naturally - the Kompact BOV barb is about the same size as the stock BOV vacuum connector, meaning the hose sits pretty loose after the barb - nothing a cable tie didn't fix.

The Kompact BOV is actually set to be slightly open at idle (the stock one is MUCH harder to push the piston in on).

What did surprise me a little was the amount of oil that was evident under the BOV - enough that I felt I should use a rag to soak up some excess. Maybe a catch-can is in this car's future...

The Kompact BOV actually swivels too, just needs a bit of force.
I also found mine to be quite oily as well.

Interesting, it looked to be made from a single block of material. I'll take another look, cheers.

And success - thanks! The hose is sitting a little more comfortably now. :)

Given the way my car's generally driven (lots of short trips), I suspect I'd be wise to go stainless steel here. A shame, as it doubles the cost...

Mild steel should still last the life of the car. Stainless is nice but not required.

You make a good point actually. I can get two mild steel exhausts for the cost of a single stainless steel one should I actually ruin the first - and realistically, I'm not going to hold onto this car for more than 10 years.

Thanks. :)

Had a dead battery this morning - the old one (that came with the car) was "Lion" brand, 440cca. It was down to ~5v on the multimeter, so well and truly cactus.

I now have a new NRMA 600cca battery with a 3 year warranty.

Many years ago, I had an NRMA battery die the day after the warranty expired (they wouldn't honour it).
I hope their quality has improved since then.

That's often the way (something dies the day after warranty expires).

I figure if I get 3 years out of it, I've done OK. Any longer is a bonus.
