Daniel,

Heh-heh, you're probably better off taking a ride someone's car who has done the upgrade, if only to feel and hear the difference.

Because it's pretty much already been confirmed in various posts (past and present) by those who have done the upgrade that yes, noise will be deeper and louder, no matter what exhaust system you have. And yes, performance will improve and the response to be quicker. This applies both to the 2.0t and the 2.5t.

So I'm not sure what else you're looking for or how many more people to say it's a worthwhile upgrade?

Don't worry, I was exactly the same not long ago. No matter how much people like Phil told me it was a great mod that will free up the power on the car, and it wouldn't increase noise levels that much, I still couldn't convince myself it was something I wanted. Mainly because I didn't want to lose the comfort and increase noise too much.

However taking a ride in Phil's car, I was finally convinced it was a worthwhile mod which would not corrupt the luxury feel of the Liberty.

Hey, that's great! Have you updated your post in the For Sale section yet?

In other words, stop hijacking my thread by advertising your wares! :big_boss: This thread is about Phat GT's dump pipe. Heh-heh.

So has any TBSTi owners only fitted the DP with no tuning? Does the stock ECU cope with the increased flow and keep det etc under control?

Any dyno figures?

Does Phil (MY07GT) count? He doesn't have a STi (though he's pretty darn close with all his mods) but he's done the DP on his MY07 GT-B without tuning as of yet. Been running for a long long time now and so far no adverse effects except for some stomache cramps which turned out to be from bad chicken.

Close to an STi??? You mean appearence wise right Jim? Cuz im sure we aint talking about power?

No need for a tune. I have had my car this way for over a yr. Others will try and tell you otherwise for your business.

Huh? Haha. Yes, Phil, I mean appearance wise like the grille, lowered appeance, brakes, and wheels. I didn't even think of it in terms of power because the STi for the Liberty is different compared to the Impreza.

For me, the STi for the Liberty has always been about just different parts & dynamics, not really more power than the GT & GT-B. More of a status really.

hey , i fitted AVO centre pipe to my 06 sti and it sounded great, deeper,no louder in the car ,felt better all good
Then i fitted HKS front pipe ,good bit of gear, single cat big waste gate mouth on the road turbo is spooling early revs much better but heres
where the story goes bad my sti quad tip mufflers now sound like sh@t
ever heard a old 4 cyl camry with a buzzing muffler!
The extra flow has messed with the sound resonance causing the baffles inside to vibrate, i didnt want to mess with look of the rear but now im looking for a solution (K2 gear, carozon duel cut or local made)

Wow, that's an interesting result. :umnik2:

Thanks for the feedback. We've got 1 member who has this similar setup, and 1 member about to go into this setup (both have STi mufflers but high flow dump pipe and larger centre pipe). The one who has it already hasn't given any negative feedback so it's good to know it's not a guarantee that noise won't be an issue.

Any chance you have a sound or video clip to warn others this may not be for everyone?

I thought you might find that interesting, i dont have any vid or sound at nce this stage but every one has comented on the sound after the dump from inside and out that its not sounding good, i hope the other guys have better luck, my biggest question im trying to find the answear to is i have a jap Hyper Rev mag that says the inlet pipe size is 60mm,mine is about 42mm joining my60mm avo pipe, i know they do a few versions
turbo,NA was this a misprint or did we Aussie versions get stuck with a NA version just for looks?
