peadya100: any chance you can dig up a better copy of your MSR dyno sheet?

Anyway its all about one's intent and/or philosophy.

support the stock turbo, injectors and intercooler wherever possible... (eg peadya100, BBB etc.)

or

support and upgrade with extra headroom for much higher power levels in the future (eg Bruce, Poida etc.)

Ahh sorry I dont have a scanned copy.. it was on the "to do" list and didnt get around to it. Normally id get you s scan tomorrow but im heading overseas.

Hey

Got an email from our favorite performance place ... Sarcastic ..stating that if doing an upgrade to a vf52 on stock 2.5 engine will require stronger internals !!

Wtf

The VF52 comes stock on 09 wrx's.

Sounds like just an excuse to try and get an engine rebuild out of someone.

on 08-10WRX...thats probably true....subaru put really bad pistons in those years. Even thought the 09+ have them still hasn't had a retune with full exhaust.

They are aware jack that's its a liberty 2.5 engine .. Surely they don't max out and fail with 200kw at the wheels?

I'm meaning that reliability is not an issue or is it?

MSR tuned an unopened WRX on E85 to 290kw atw.
It really depends what boost levels you want to run up to.
The VF52 is fine on the standard GTB engine with the right tune and boost levels.

Just more lag, that's it.

I've just asked the crowd that peady mentioned for their rebuilt VF52s what impact the extra services they offer have on spoolup...

As the spool is laggy. But I recall Peter talking about the headers adding to this..

Would a manual be less lag ?

The spool is laggier, a few hundred rpm later as I understand it. There are some graphs on this site that indicate the differences.

No less lag in a manual, but because you have more control, and there's no torque converter lock-up delay, it's not as evident/detrimental.
