Flat spot at 2000RPM

Postby Tones99 » Wed Jun 05, 2013 11:02 pm

Hi All,

Having a bit of an issue with my 08 GTB and need some club expertise.
It only has low kms and since i have had it there has been a flat spot at around 2000 RPM. It was only really noticable in S# mode but since the weather has been getting colder its now quite noticeable in S and I modes also. I have had it serviced at Denlo Subaru Parramatta recently who i asked about it. They seem to have no idea (typical). It feels like an electrical problem and as if its cutting fuel or boost (maybe too early for boost) for a moment and then back to normal through out the rest of the rev range......

Wondering if anyone has had a similar problem?

Thanks in advance

Cheers
Anthony

Yep.!!!

It's the factory tune.!! Something to do with going from closed loop boost control to open loop boost control and you get a stutter from memory.

Subaru won't do shit. Take it to a proper workshop ( NRG auto in rydalmere or garage88 ) and they will sort it.

Stay away from MRT....!! You have been warned!!

Thanks mate, thats helpful.

Whats the fix? Is it a reflash of the ECU or an add on?

I know Nick well and have taken my last two subies to him so will be asking him about this next service. I regret taking my car to Denlo, just thought i would give them a try. Never again!

Thanks for the MRT warning (but you are not the first haha).

Cheers

Mate if you take it to Nick you will have no dramas. Ive been with Nick for 10yrs + , so yeh i know the Nick experience well.!! He will tell you if you need a reflash or not.!!

+ 1 for the AFM clean. Grab some contact and circuit board cleaner and give it a good clean. While your at it, disconnect the battery while you muck around with the AFM. Just make sure that there is no more juice left in the system (put the hazards on till you go no more flashing etc ). That will reset the learned memory in the ecu coupled with the clean, you might be ok.
