DVC sub with McIntosh Amp??

Postby 1dua566 » Mon Jun 03, 2013 8:08 pm

Just bought a new Polk Audio db840DVC 8inch Sub and just realised I got the dual voice coil instead of the single. How would I go about wiring it up to the stock amp? Can I get away with just wiring one coil up or should i send it back and get the single voice coil version instead? Pretty new to the car audio side of things so any help would be awesome.. Cheers.

Not good news for you unfortunately. Dual 4 ohm voice coils can only be wired up as 2ohm (parallel) or 8 ohm (series). 2 ohm will probably kill your amp, and 8 ohm will only get half the power out of the amp.
