Appreciate the kind words and support gents

J - the blokes I saw get their rings from BSA and that's why they said a week.

Once my car is back ill go see them and get a set

Might even throw on my track rims the enkeis but these currently have no tyres and I'm not 100 percent on brembo clearance with these

See what happens

So a big thanks to nick (Itssti) for letting me borrow his wheels for dyno. Still hasn't been tuned but soon

In the meantime I've commenced work on the auto rebuild. Should be completed in six weeks' time pending shipping from the states for some of my parts.

The box should be good for 400awkw which will be plenty for me I think.

In the meantime I've got to fix a few things when the car is off the dyno just to tidy things up a little.

Holy snapping duck shit, the tranny will be good for 400 killer wasps!!!! How is this possible? What mods are you doing exactly? Even after the few mods I've done to my auto I still don't trust it 100% it just feels like I've wrapped a china vase in two layers of bubble wrap!!!
Hope the rest is all going well can't wait to see this thing on the strip once its done!

Well at least we know his tires still have air in them. It's been a long time not moving. Lol... nick is a top bloke and keen to help another member in need.

Can't wait for the results mick should be mighty fun when it's all tuned and running properly.

Chook its a custom kit from two auto trans gurus on the legacy GT forum. It comprises of custom machined hi/low/reverse piston drums with double the clutch packs than factory, plus a rebuild kit for the rest of the gearbox.

Will be throwing the bronze bushes in and an F1 hexmods valve body in there too

Should be good for 550whp according to the guys putting it together for me

Matt - thanks for the support mate and I hope you're right

Hi Mick,
Great initiative. Good luck with the tune
My 04 with 200000km just dropped an exhaust valve so I'm replacing the engine. Thinking of following your path to the 207. Did you use the tgvs and injector rails from the 207 or have to bolt on a different setup or use the original 04 bits? I've got two conflicting reports on the way forward regard to injectors with the 04 manifold. One says I need a top or side feed from a differing model another says I can use the 207 setup.
I need to be clear before I buy bits I don't need.
Thanks in advance
Rob

Hi Rob

No worries

I had converted my original motor to top feed using custom rails and id1000's. so all I had to do was change injectors to 2000's and use my original manifold with the custom rails and fuel lines

Speak to Michael at g88 for the setup as I believe he is one of the only ones in the world that has this down pat. Be careful because your standard side feed to top feed conversion won't work

Rob is hoping to use the 207 TGV and injectors, then bolt the plastic 20Y intake manifold on. The 207 TGV is port matched to the big port heads is all :)

Won't work as the oem 207 top feed injectors and rails will foul on the plastic manifold.

That and I don't think the plastic manifold lines up with the 207 tgv risers

Could be coaxed into working though if you're keen enough

Yep, Had a chat to RSS (Kris), he can supply TGV's and rails which fit with the Liberty Manifold. He seemed to know the issue and resolution. Ordered the 207 today with the alternate injector setup.

No doubt I'll have more questions -- like what needed doing to the left side Liberty exhaust cam sensor to make it fit into the 207?

Thanks

So I've been fine tuning my base tune to try get it to run right

Closed loop maf scaling is pretty much spot on now

Pulled about 3 degrees of timing out of the high load timing ranges (on top of the 3-4 degrees Scott pulled out of my previous tune), and richened the mixture up in 2.5g/s plus range by 1.0 point across the board except 4.00g/s column (only added minor fuel here).

Point of this was to give me a very safe base from which to do some WOT runs to scale the maf for open loop, and then gradually tune for boost, timing, fuel then avcs. Disconnected hks evc to run wastegate pressure (21psi) and was hoping to work backward.

One thing I'm digging is the cel flash on fbkc - helped me diagnose minor fbkc at low load (pulled 2 degrees of timing so one incident of feedback knock, but no fine learning or rough correction so it was probably engine noise)

Hit a snag because the auto is slipping in third gear at wot from 4300rpm. Won't hold the power it just straight slips. Fourth gear is a little better but still slips at 5000rpm wot

Tried playing with dbw and throttle plate tables but still slips.

So no luck with it yet. Hopefully it relates to dbw tables and which I might get Matt to have a play with and weave his magic with the auto shit to try get it to lock up (for a fee of course)

Failing that, it looks like no full power until the spare box is built.

Yeah still have my old tranny in there until my other one is built

No it was prefectly fine before - seems like it doesn't like the new power
