95000kms servicing??

Hello,

I am new to this form as I just picked up my 04 Liberty GT today. Love it already!!!!
My new car has 95000k's on the clock and it hasn't been serviced for the last 10 months as the prior owner has not driven much in the time.
I am aware being a Turbo, it probably needs and oil change asap, so I called a couple of Subaru service centres. They advised me I should do the 100000km service as its overdue, not by k's but time has passed and the timing belt is at risk. This is going to set me back $1500.
I am not likely to drive another 5000km's in the next 4 months.

Has any one experienced this?
Any recommendations?
Should I go ahead and do the 100000km service or get an interim one done.

Also, does any one know any good mechanics in South East Melbourne to service a GT as an alternative to the dealerships?

The 100,000km service is overdue and should be done. It should have been done in 2009 and the timing belt would suffer from age related deterioration.

Don't bother with a minor service.

I use Cromwood Auto Service in Burwood. His prices are good and he's a Subaru specialist workshop.

If the timing belt let's go due to deterioration then it will cost you a helluva lot more than $1500.00.
Do the 100,000km Service and have peace of mind.

I got the major service done.. set me back $2100.
They had to replace alternator belt and pulley also.
Man the dealerships are expensive!!

Why did you take it to a stealership?

That's normally the last resort when servicing your car...

Stealership!! - that's true mate.

First time Subaru owner, didn't know where to take it, I only had 1 RDO in May and it was urgent. I sure learnt my lesson.

They messed up my car too, after all the money, my fuel economy is terrible now. I haven't got 300kms out of a full tank yet. I called them back to ask if they tuned the car, they said they don't tune cars with service's. When I asked even after changing so much stuff inc spark plugs, they said, the computer tune's it self.
They are full of it!!

Im gonna take it back for them to reset the computer to try out for now.

Does any one else know, any other good Suby mechanics in Melbourne, preferably in the SE.

You can reset the ECU yourself. Remove the negative battery terminal, pump brakes a few times to clear excess power from the system, reconnect.

Is resetting the ECU useful if there are no apparent problems with a car? (sorry if its a silly question)
