the new Nexus 7 is rumoured to be coming out so you should keep your eyes and ears peeled for random sales ;)

also Hisense have announced their first tab to compete the nexus and other tabs in the 7" category. the Hisense Sero 7 Pro hasn't been officially released yet (at least in aus) but they look like a pretty impressive kit. Has everything the nexus 7 has but with added features like expandable memory, mini-hdmi and front/rear facing camera but apparently going to be cheaper than the Nexus 7.

this might be overkill but has anybody considered doing a 7" tab on the top where the cubby is with double din replacement at the bottom?
lets say you buy a double din standard unit without screen (something that comes with USB playback and supports charging) you could just hook that up to the tablet? that would solve your problems regarding power management or the requirement of tweaking some sort of 12v source to charge. the head unit could also read the tablet under 'mass storage' so you could most likely control the playlist from the head unit if you wanted to. also adds the possibility of retaining steering wheel controls to control volume, change tracks, source, etc. also adds bluetooth and if you have the cash, digital radio.

now i know the AV Panel Set is around $350-400 but for someone who is looking to do this on the cheap could get this:

Some of my mates reckon it'll look stupid :( they're just jelly like a jellyfish.

seanmau5 wrote:My tablet idea is:
- Nexus 7
- Aux in to Pioneer HU (which can remain on AUX)
- iPhone bluetooth to HU still as it overrides all audio (full functionality; would probably work better than Tablet talk)
- External storage solution for movies and music (unsure how to connect to tablet)
- Screen set to dim until used (also full brightness while NAV software displaying)
- Info panel relocation kit and use existing cig lighter and loom to power tablet

Please point out and glitches or where it could be done an easier way!
