Gran Turismo 6 end of 2013

I know there is debate about which racing game is the best etc. To be honest, I don't really care and this thread isn't for you Forza fan boys to tell me how much better it is. Gran Turismo (the original) was the first game I ever owned on Playstation, in the Christmas of 1998 when my dad first bought me and my brother the Playstation and a few games.

My dad wasn't 100% cluey on how the whole thing worked and didn't realise a memory card was needed to save the game, and neither did myself or my brother, so every day would be a painstaking trip through the B licence and A licence so that we would be able to race in more than the Sunday Cup (which was only ever beneficial to sell the Demio A-spec for some more cash!). It at least gave me a chance to use the first 10,000 credits try a whole bunch of different cars. In the end, I would always stick to the old school Supra before I could afford something quicker. My dad was a good dad though, he saw how upset we were that our progress would start again each day so one Friday night my mum said he spent all night awake swearing in frustration as he got through all of the licence tests ready for us to enjoy all of Saturday. Good memories :)

Once we finally got a memory card a whole new world opened up, I was able to finish the game and amass all of my favourite cars. I would always stick to modifying the Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo as much as was possible, and try to hit 400km/hr going backwards around the Test Track. I don’t think I’ve ever played more hours on one game than the original Gran Turismo, the only one that would come close is Tekken 3 or Madden NFL 2005.

Anyway, the other games in the series have come and gone and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them (probably GT4 the least to be honest), but it still has a nostalgic affect on me, so the news that number 6 is coming out soon excites me. It’s a lot better than the ridiculous wait for 5! The IGN article I posted got me pretty excited for it, however I really think they should’ve waited until the PS4 to release it on that platform as GT5 was just too big of a game for the PS3 to handle (think of all the time we’ve wasted waiting for loading screens to finish).

Here’s hoping the graphics and gameplay are up to the task, pretty excited for this!

Haha, that is a pretty awesome effort by your parents.

I've always been a fan too, although I didn't have a ps1 so GT3 was my first.
Didn't play much of GT4, but I like GT5 (that install time is bs though).

I will probably dust off the PS for GT6.

Looking forward to Forza 5 later this year 8)

In all seriousness, can't wait for the next gen consoles to be released in 4K, the cars from each respective game will look photo-realistic!

I'm one of those Forza fan boys. Never played GT before but judging by those screenshots the next generation of gaming should be wicked!! I've got an Xbox for GTA & Forza, might get me a PS for GT :D

Hahahaha nice story Rome!!!

My brother bought a cracked ps1 from hong kong when my parents lived there when i was still at school. Loved all versions except one of them ( think it was 3 or 4, cant remember ). I remember my parents actually liking gt1 and would play with us!!

But the reason i have a PS is because of GT . Was playing it today and still love it.

And i still do the same thing that i have always done. Win races to buy all the cars i have ever wanted and mod the shit out of them. !!! Then take em onto a track and drift the ass off them!!! 4wd, fwd or rwd .... Just as long as it smokes the tyres!! Hahaha
Not a Subaru...... Something MUCH better

NOPE..... That's shit too. Bus anyone??

I actually did really like NBA 2K12 when it came out, played it for ages, haven't played 2K13 though.

And Gomez, Gran Turismo 2 was so good when we got it, it was like everything that was good about the first one but with more cars, better cars, and rally 8)

From my childhood, all i can remember is playing GT1 and only GT1 on the Playstation.. i never played any other games, they didnt interest me much. My first car was a '96 Honda Prelude, Maroon coloured P.O.S. it was, tuned it up as i progress through the game and i kept it in my garage after moving on to better and faster cars. I remember the glitch that would make the one of the Skylines or silvia? rear and front bounce up and down really fast if you set the suspension too low or the dampers or something like that lol.

TBH GT5 was a real disappointment, Polyphony took a lot of time learning to code the game for the new cell architecture bs on the PS3, which resulted in the long ass wait and standard and premium car models. I would have rather waited another couple more years for GT6 to be released on the PS4 with all the cars as premium models. The GT6 thats currently being released is just a rehash of GT5.

The PS4 has been constructed to be a more simplified machine compared to the PS3, more alike a PC, so hopefully they make GT7, we wont have to wait that long and expect a fully complete game.

I went through using the Prelude a few times!! Not sure on the suspension glitch you're talking about though! I used to use the Silvia quite a bit too!

I agree on GT5, although I did thoroughly enjoy many hours of play on that game. They released an incomplete game and have released dozens of updates and further DLC since it's release. I was hoping for a different experience with GT6 but that looks like it might not be the case...
