Washer jets and steering wheel alignment.

Hi all,

Just got a MY02 Outback and discovered when driving it home that the washer jets on the bonnet don't work. I'm pretty sure the little pump in the washer bottle is busted as the wipers work as if water is being sprayed, but there is no noise from the motor. Is this just a swap and go thing, or are there fuse(s) that I should check first?

Also, my steering wheel is sitting to the left a bit, almost it has been put on 1 spline off centre. Is it as easy as taking it off and replacing it straight, or is it a mechanics problem?

I'd also try the "technical tap" on the pump as the brushes may be stuck.

Best get an alignment IMHO and bear in mind the wheel will be off center anyway if driving on roads with lots of camber.

Regarding your steering wheel, as has been said, take it in somewhere, even if you were going to attempt to rectify it yourself, removing it and replacing it it isnt the best way to go about it. You'd be better to correct it by adjusting the tie rod ends, if you do attempt this yourself just be sure to adjust both sides the same amount otherwise you may throw the tracking out, but yeh if i was you i'd take it in for an alignment to be safe...

Iirc there's an alignment mark at the rack and steering cv end to check as well - it will be in the workshop service manual

Washer issue is sorted. They work, operator error!

As for the alignment issue, I'll go and get a front end alignment. Do I need a four wheel alignment, or a thrust alignment?
