Some progress today:

Image
The xForce centre pipe is installed.

Image
And who said it does not bolt up to the HiTech Mufflers? Yes the folks at xForce Melbourne. Well, it does bolt up on the RHS at least!!!

Image
Oh, and it looks like it bolts up on the LHS as well. :)

Image
Mmm... nice shiny Y pipe....

And now for today's issues:

Image
When the original header was cut away from the original cats, the inner diameter of the pipe was significantly smaller than expected. Probably close to 1.0 inch and we had a 2.25 inch flange, plus the anticipated 3rd cat replacement is going to use 2.25 pipe.

Image
Originally, I was planning to reuse the existing front cat section and retain it as stock mated to the new headers and the xForce cat back centre and Y pipe. But this was going to be a nonsense to achieve any improvement in flow. So, the solution to today's issue is:

Image
A pair of these 200 cell cats with 2.5 inch in and out. Barry will remount the O2 sensors in close to the stock position and then adjust to ensure they get good flow.

So, tomorrow should see the exhaust finished and probably Wed before the WTA Reservoir and Pump mounts are completed, WTA system filled and bled and we kick her over. Now, I know you what are all thinking.....CEL? We shall see!

I will organise that when I get it back. Will do some logs first as the basis for the tune.

Looks like they are doing a great job of your exhaust and you must be happy even with one or two issue but hey that's modifying cars :)

Correct, as soon as you change one thing, another needs re-optimising!

This update is to say, there is no update today.

Busy sorting out brackets and final mountings for the electric pump and water reservoir. I was running around the city this morning and the suburbs this afternoon acquiring some 304 grade stainless for the custom 3rd cat replacement.

Hopefully, we will see some progress tomorrow.

They were $260 each. The spec is 2.5 inch, 1.6 mm 304 grade stainless steel, Oval shape, Metal cats.

Not the cheapest price going and such is the price of expediency.

Today's update, brought to you by......me!

Some progress on the custom stainless steel section, from headers to the centre pipe. It is slow progress, but progress none the less.

Image
The new WTA pump bracket that was made by Barry. Luv his work!

Image
A second bracket that was made for another 3.0Rsc in Melbourne.

Image
You can see the headers hanging a bit low, so a small section to angle up into the cats and get them sitting in close to their original place. You can also see the length of 2.5 inch ss pipe that will come from the rear of each cat to a 3 inch ss junction to link up with the xForce cat back centre.

Image
From the rear looking forward.

I am quietly hoping to get the car back for the weekend, if it is not too noisy! But the emphasis is on a quality build and I am liking it so far.

Thanks Daniel, but I am but a spectator most of the time. I give then a statement about what I want to see at the finish, and they go about it. I just hope it all works and sounds good in the end.

The works Subaru!

If noise gets out of control, the fix is easy. Fit a decent muffler right up the front just after the 2 become 1 - fantastic solution if you need it
