Seat Belt Warning Chime

Postby NDJ93 » Sat May 25, 2013 2:47 pm

Hi,

I recently had some friends in the backseat of my Liberty and noticed that despite having passengers unbuckled in the back seats (as we were turning into the shops - yes I know this is not an excuse and I am sorry for those I offend) the warning chime and light did not come on in the overhead seat belt light console, yet as soon as it happens in the front passenger seat the chime and lights begin to go off. I don't usually take passengers in the back seat of my car so perhaps I never noticed this before, but I may be selling this car soon and therefore would like for everything to be in working order. As my car is a wagon, I assume some young families may be interested, with this issue possibly being a deal breaker for couples with young children.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated, I know the seat belt warning system can be disconnected under the front seats as I saw them when doing my amp install underneath the seat. However, I am unsure of the best way to access these plugs in the case of the rear seats (my car is a MY07 Wagon).

Thanks,

NDJ93

There is no warning system for the rear seats similar to that of the front passenger seat. It is simply a matter of making sure if you have 3 passengers in the back that there are 3 little green men displayed on the overhead console.

Sorry Sean, I probably wasn't clear enough explaining, but there is neither a warning chime or 'three green' men that appear above in the overhead console :S

Yeah, there is no warning system, what so ever.

For the rear, it doesn't matter if someone is in the seat or not. The only time the green man will appear is if the seatbelt is in use. There is no warning chime nor weight sensors

What Zach said.. Usually the display is blank until a seatbelt is plugged in at which time the corresponding little green person with a seat belt on will appear. I suggest turning your car on, sitting in a seat and testing it out.

Yep, just tried it out and you guys are correct haha. I was just paranoid as I've recently had my seats folded down for long periods of time with heavy stuff sitting on top. I was worried that I may have buggered the sensors. Cheers guys!
