Introduce yourself

4th gen GT (2.0T) or 3.0R Spec B

Postby Dylw18 » Fri May 24, 2013 12:49 am

Hi,
New member here, hoping to soon be a liberty owner
I have a dilemma as to what to get though
Definitely set on the 4th gen wagon, as they look amazing!
I just cant choose between the 2.0L turbo or the 3L....
Any help between difference, pros/cons, personal experience with either would be great!
I tried searching through the forum for a similar post, so if there is one and someone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome!
Cheers
Dylan

Welcome, in terms of the two they're really quite different and it entirely depends on what you want to achieve with the car.

The GT in stock form is nowhere near as good a package as the 3L Spec B out of the box. GT comes with shitty KYB struts and a 5 speed made of glass. Spec B comes with Bilsteins plus the same 6 speed box that you get out of an STi, which is bulletproof.

In terms of mod potential, obviously the GT is the goer, but you still have options on the table if you wanted to get more power out of the H6 (SC/custom turbo kits but be prepared to drop some serious coin).

If I was you I'd take one of each for a test drive and see which one you like best.

Cheers,

Al

There are also things like what you want to use your car for. If towing is something that happens a lot, or you will be often carrying heavier loads in the wagon, then the 3.0 has more torque over a wider range than the turbo.

But, then, the 3.0 is very thirsty.

Neither is perfect, it is all about the least amount of compromise.

cheers,

This is my main dilemma having looked at a few. For the price, the Spec B looks like an awesome package as you mentioned. But the GT's potential for improvement is big. That said, i dont have plans for a big power car so maybe getting the Spec B will keep me a bit grounded! haha

Cheers!

I wont be doing too much towing or carrying loads, maybe on the off chance, but nothing often
