Keyless entry becoming intermittent

Postby scottb721 » Tue May 21, 2013 7:50 am

I have an 08 Liberty. Of late I've been having trouble with the keyless-entry not working. This includes lock, unlock and boot pop.

I've tried both remotes without success and it's not batteries for a number of reasons,
1. When it is working the transmitter's range in excellent,
2. and this one is a kicker - when it is playing up and I unlock the door manually and get in, the door mounted lock/unlock switch does not work in the UNLOCK direction. LOCK direction works fine.

If it was an issue with the keyfob or battery I would expect that the door lock switch to continue working but it doesn't. When the keyless is working normally the manual UNLOCK switch also works fine. As soon as I start the car it all comes good.

Also, after pressing the keyfob button enough times sometimes the car will magically start responding.

Mods to the car are a reversing camera, auto window closer (only hooked to the LOCK signal of the door lock solenoid), garage door remote wired to a dash button ans bluetooth car kit, but these have been in a while.

Any ideas ? perhaps a Body Integrate Unit.
Thank you

Could be a door lock actuator on its way out?

Would that stop the interior door switch and keyless from working altogether, inc the boot button ?

A bad door solenoid would only affect that door I would have thought.

I have the same problems on a few occasions now. Happened in the same general area.

I can manually unlock the car which doesn't disarm the alarm so alarm goes off and car wouldn't start.

But get this... once inside the car, I can unlock it no problem. Unsure whether it was RFI issue or something more sinister???

Have not tried the door mounted lock/unlock switch.

Might check your central locking module found behind the glove box. It's a little white box. It sounds like your car isn't responding to your key chip either if it won't start so maybe your bim(body integrated module) is playing up also.

Putting this down to the fob battery.

Turns out unlocking the car manually somehow causes the 'unlock' side of the door switch to not function, this certainly threw me.

Gives myself an uppercut!

I'm having the same issue.

Guess I'll change the battery and see what happens.
