Will be on the cards next year if your auto works well, if not I looked into manual conversion, too many $$$$

No time or $ to do the built auto yet.
Will be done in spring some time.

Have to make 5EAT last until then.

Hope the 2 weeks I have been told is more accurate than the last time I was told 2 weeks.
Its the worst kind of waiting!

Re: Member Profile - JSLAYZ - KILLED STOCK MOTOR

First challenge was hit today.....

As motor is seized and is unrotatable at all(even breaker bar) the torque converter fasting bolts can not be accessed to remove it from the backing plate attached to the crank.
The motor needs to turn over to provide access to the 12mm bolts through the hole under the intercooler.
So cross member, steering rack, motor and gearbox will be taken out as one unit then split.

Bugger, that has pushed up the $$$$$$ needed.

Torque converter may not be able to be removed from crank without disassembling the seized motor if there is no way to access those 12mm bolts?
Anyone know for sure?

Double bugger!!!

Other interesting facts are there is plenty of oil in the motor but 2L of coolant was gone.
Starting to think Mega head gasket failure or oil pickup snapped off, will know for sure soon.

Sounds hydro locked to me

As alkemst suggested - take the plugs out and spray some wd40 down the cylinder to free it up

You may have blown a headgasket bad enough around the water jackets and water has made its way into the combustion chamber which has now hydro locked it

Thanks Mick.
Yep that is the theory we are going with. Plugs are out while trying to turn the motor over.....no go.

Only other option is the crank and bearings are melted together....

Always interesting

Car is back in my garage....minus gearbox and motor...
Sad, sad looking lib at this point.

Once motor and gearbox were out, breaker bar and people standing on it managed to turn motor over to get all parts separated.

The auto chaps have decided a valve body mod and larger torque converter thrust bearing are going in.
They are also looking at any ways to speed up the shifts with hydraulic mods too.

Hope they can work out a few upgrades as they do a lot of late model modding there, fingers crossed!!!

Ok, ordered the Hexmods Center Diff Bushings, clutch packs are being assembled & pistons machined, cryogenic treatment done to auto, RE5 Shift kit going in.
Things are happening, finally.

Kelford Cams are requiring some extra machining due to the high lift nature.

Coming together
