Pre-Face Double Din Facia

Hi All,

Anybody used one of these at all?

Obviously it would only be effective on the pre-face stereos which have a separate face plate and would require a fair bit more DIY when compared to some of the other available options.

I was just curious if anybody had attempted it and what the end result looked like, mainly as the other kits are pretty damn expensive and it seems to be hard to get one without the A/C controls (which I wouldn't need if I was going to make the switch).

Yep i've used one. Really depends if you care how cheap your interior looks? Mine went in the bin after a few days of having it in the car.

Personally I would not recommend them. Once you fabricate a custom bracket/mod the stock hu bracket (PITA!) and figure out a good way to mount the hazard switch and actually attach the 'fascia' itself, realistically it's only covering up a massive gaping hole in the dash. It's nearly impossible to get it sitting flush/looking right...

I figured this was going to be the case, I would have ordered one already if I thought otherwise.

Was worth asking the question then as I'm not going to cheap out if it's going to look crap.

If you're on a super tight budget, it'll look ok from a distance/to the untrained eye.. But I know I'm the kind of person that would go mad having to look at something every day that isn't perfect..

Yeah agreed. It wasn't really about the amount as such, just one of those principal things regarding the perceived value of the kit to me versus what I'm expected to pay for it.

I'll probably have to learn to live with the feeling due to the lack of available alternatives
