kiahatsiu wrote:Yeah, it is nice to see the thing getting results. It really is a credit to the tuners. I must admit that I doubted the potential of that turbo. A guy in the states who post's on various forums a Xluben is getting some big numbers out of one too.
Funny thing is I am not sure where to go from here. My original goal was a built 2.5 with 300kw + at the wheels. I have a good set up ready to go in, which I was thinking about whacking a GTX3582 on. I now realise that is going to blow my goals out of the water. So, right now I am leaning towards trying for 300kw on a stock motor. That will involve improved boost control in the form of wastegate mods, and bigger injectors again. The problem that then arises is running 24 + psi through a stock open deck motor is only going to result in the heads lifting.
As for this turbo (20g-xtr) on a 2.5, I was concerned that it would choke down as it is an 8cm rear housing with a 56mm exhaust wheel. As you can see from the 289kw run the opposite is happening, in that the wastegate cannot flow enough and boost is actually rising. So, no matter what happens next, an external gate will be going onto the up pipe.
Future plan? The built 2.5 with this turbo, aim for 260 odd on 98 and 310+ on e85.

I think we have asked enough of the stock motor for now.

Ian, you haven't answered the question we all want to know: how does she drive?

It is now sitting in the garage until I get back to Australia in 28 days. I haven't even driven it yet.
My mate describes it as a "slingshot." Nothing nothing...blasting along!

Great job Tony.
I was trying to explain it, and want to talk about it with the guys at work, but one just ends up sounding like that bullshitter mate of a mate that everyone has. Telling people you have a stock Subaru making 380 hp at the wheels on 22psi just makes you sound like a bullshit artist.

I will when I get back. I think I will fall just short of the 115 mph mark though.

Always blame the tuner........ then the track conditions..... tyre choice...... batch of fuel.

I would love to see the result with the built bottom end

Right, so it seems this thing is pretty fast. I was all set to go to Willowbank tomorrow night and be surprised/disappointed but it appears my selector bushes have gone to the big gear box in the sky.
I think I might have to duck down to Subaru tomorrow and get some.
