First, use good products - i'm a big fan of Zaino and have been using it for about 5 years now.
The most important bit is the wax/polish/etc that you have on the car. If this is a good product you'll find that drying your car streak free after a wash easy.
As mentioned before get a good quality chamois - i use only microfiber products now.
When you dry your car, have a bucket of 'as hot as you can handle" water to rinse the chamois - you'll find that the hot water(and chamois) helps the drying process.
Also for those bits that you know water gets trapped - mirrors, around the headlights, grill, etc. use a kitchen towel/tissue to soak up the water- if you don't have acess to some kind of equipment to blow thw water out (i use a garden blower).
And it might bea good idea to invest in a 'spray and wipe' type product - depennding on the product and the amount of dirt on the car, you could use this every day if you like.
hope this helps!
