Question, how do you get the Subaru logo as the background on the unit?

The photos from the first page have some on the angle. It doesn't sit flush, slightly sticks out at the bottom, but can get some more shots if you want...

It was on sale for $1299 from $1699, and i got free installation and free iPod cable, because i originally went there with my own GPS/DVD unit that was 5mm too tall for the slot, so he gave me a good deal (Westside Car Audio, Cannington).

Quick question for those who have replaced the standard deck, does the amp stay or did you have to replace the amp with an aftermarket one?

I was looking at this unit too, with the customise feature, can the buttons turn red?
I looked in the online manual, but it wasn't very clear.

Thanks

I had to get an aftermarket amp installed. Just a simple little 2 channel one did the job.

I've researched for hours and went through all the functions of the headunit more than 10x, it doesn't look like you can change the stock blue illuminating lights. I wish I could change it to red though.. I thought Alpine was one of the top-end manufacturers in the car audio industry, funny how its so tough to customize your own HU..

Interested in all of this as I want full Ipod functionality in a head unit if the McIntosh packs it in

From what I've been able to pick up you can re use the stock amp for 12 speakers but need a seperate amp for the sub?

How much did the head unit install cost and what's the difference in sound quality been like?

It cost me around the 2K mark for the complete install including the Mediagate but its been a while I'm sure the price has dropped significantly for that particular HU. To be honest I only listen to MP3's now so I can't really compare the sound quality to the McIntosh system which was only a CD player. As you know, CD > MP3 in terms of sound quality. Overall still very happy with it!

On my 2.5i, which only has 6 speakers, the sound quality improved alot with just a head unit upgrade, but will be different with your system.
