Any thoughts on this unit?

I just ordered my fascia kit via avojdm as the exchange rates are good at present.

What cables do most of you run to your speakers, by the way?

Are you sticking with stock speakers? If so, just stick with the existing looms/wiring

Nah, I've already got ol school Pioneer TS-C woofers in the front and they sound bass-less without the crossovers haha ...so I'm hoping to run new wires into the crossover :)

Will I need a Subaru-Pioneer 'adapter', by the way?

Do you have the Kenwood or the McIntosh system in your car?

Yea you'll need an adapter so you don't have to chop up your factory loom. I'm using 16 gauge I think. Make sure the pins on the harnesses match up otherwise shit won't work

Cheers mate. I am looking into 16 AWG actually.

I just found this via ebay:

I'm still waiting for AVOJDM to process my fascia kit order...

Don't bother upgrading your wiring till you start putting big power into your speakers. Real world differences are negligible.
Car(s): Steel Silver MY10 GT Wagon + 1985 Subaru Sherpa

Mods: (GT) HKS Panel Filter. The HKS I put in the MY10 is the same filter I took out of my MY05 GT. So yes, they do fit. Custom leather heel pad to minimise carpet wear in the drivers footwell. Slotted front rotors. (Sherpa) 14'' 6 Spoke mags, Chrome Gear Shift (sick!), Alloy Pedals (sicker!), new positive and negative battery terminals, Alpine cda-9827 H/U, JBL GT 6x9's boxed and mounted (sickest!), Kicker DS650.2 component speakers mounted in the footwells in flibreglass pods, Alpine MRP-F200 4 channel amp (4x40wRMS), Rebadged with hektik chrome eBay badges, STi stickers for more powaaaa, "leather" handbrake boot, recarpetted with grey/black car carpet from Bunnings, sick Clarke Rubber boot mat, polished and waxed.

Amplified aftermarket speakers require speaker wire to be run from the amp to the door; is this what you're referring to? If they're running off the head unit then you don't need to worry.

Amplified aftermarket speakers require new speaker anyway don't they? If they're running of the head unit then you don't need to worry.

They don't 'need' to be upgraded, but i'd recommend it for better sound quality :) Stock ones turn to crap over the years

As I said, in the real world, with a car driving, road noise etc etc, the difference is negligible.

In my old Laser, I ran around 120wRMS to a set of splits over factory wiring for over two years without issue. When I eventually upgraded my factory wiring in preparation for a bigger amp, there was no difference in sound quality at all. This is in doors that were completely sealed, deadened etc etc etc.

Sorry guys, edited my post after reading it because it didn't read as I wanted it to. What I'm saying is if cooki_monsta is amplifying aftermarket speakers (standard Kenwood system) then he needs to run speaker wire as its non existent.. But if they're running directly off the head unit then just stick with the stock wiring

I've canned the idea of a Pioneer source unit; the user interface is horrible when compared to Alpine units. I'm looking into the ICS-X7 now.
