Rusty stone chip advice

Hi All,

I've been putting off getting some stone chips on my 07 GTB fixed recently, and I've really left it too late. Rust has started in, and the paint has started to bubble within a ~5mm radius on two small chips *bangs head on wall* ...

I've been to a body repair shop and told it needs a roof respray to the rear pillars, and blend it in there. The quote for that was $600 (which was less than I was expecting). The kicker here is, I was planning on selling the car in a month or two, so I want to get this fixed before I pass it on, but I don't want to spend a huge amount of money.

There are only 2 chips where the rust has spread, there is another rusty chip in the A pillar, but that hasn't spread under the paint. There are more chips on the roof and A pillars that haven't rusted at all (yet). I can thank all the trucks on the F6 for this

Pics are of the 2 rusty chips on the roof. Hope they turned out OK, it was pretty sunny - i was trying to capture the extent of the rust spread.

Am I best off getting it resprayed? Any other options anyone can recommend? Thanks.

If you're selling it, find some matching nail polish and cross your fingers

Clay bar. Had the exact same thing on my sisters car. It'll get rid of all the rust colour in the paint, and just look like normal chips

Are you guys serious, I'd feel terrible selling a car knowing there was rust under the paint...

it's just surface rust.
Do as has been suggested.
Clay-bar to remove the the oxidisation, then you have a couple of options,
1) touch them up with some paint and leave it as it just enough to cover the chip
2) touch them up with lots of paint so it fills and overflows the chip, then sand them back level with some 2500 grit wet n dry, use a fine cut, then polish and wax.

<Typing this on a phone, so bear with me>...

- Use a pencil eraser on the rust already there, then clay.
-Get the appropriate touch-up paints from Subaru and drip them into the 'erased' chip with a toothpick.
-Make the drip matte/flat with finger or brush.
- Cut, polish and wax when dry.
