If you had a 5 speed maybe..

just sit down and work out what you want from the car and the conditions it gets used in.

Snow/ Ice/ Mud/ Heavy off-road use. you will need a centre diff with LSD action and probably F+R LSD's aswell
Trackwork. Open centre will be fine, F+R LSD's would be a benefit but not essential
Drags. you'll probably want a front LSD to stop it lighting up just one front wheel, although a little wheelspin can be beneficial to stop it bogging down.

Or fit a complete DCCD Box/ wiring with helical front LSD and plated rear end to cover all scenarios

The dccd Center requires specific input and output shafts to work in the 6mt. So best ask the vendor if they can supply those. Plus the price is around 2x +++ s/h...

Yeh it's getting up there in price already!!

That smashed 06 Sti might be an option. But it's got 105k on it.... But depends on price as I may be able to grab everything including hubs to go to 5x114.3 to have some better rim choice.

My understanding is that the STi hub carriers need to be machined to fit liberty suspension as the width and bolt centres are somewhat different. It has been done, a setup like that from an RS in Sydney was sold on eBay last year to a guy in Ballarat who subsequently sold the hubs & axles on. If so he got his Dccd box for around 1.5k!
Otherwise for postFL, the dccd box and rear diff centre are drop in upgrades with your existing driveshaft & axles.
Dja could correct me as he's done it all a few times.

If preFL, it's a little more complicated, requiring different front axle stubs/seals in the box and the whole R180 and matching axles at the back iirc... So ymmv :)

Also, import dccd will most likely be short ratio, adm is long ratio same as gt 6mt...
Difference is approx 500rpm @ 100ks in 6th, iirc.

How the feck do you guys know all this shit!!???

Yeh ive spoken DJA about a box and that is on the cards along with a drop in rear diff. But im thinking if im going to the trouble of the new box i want dccd ... Even if its a wank factor!!!

Im even thinking..... maybe converting to rear wheel drive....

Might save a whole lotta dosh in the end.!!!

Kinda cool for a post face lift tuned by sti rear wheel drive....

THIS.

Dan knows how to make these lego things go together and just work properly.
he's no BS and bl00dy helpful if you have an issue with anything
plus he loves changing out 6 speeds on his back in the driveway..... :D :D

I read all the faq's on nasioc & LGT over again and again :-)
Dja actually did it :)
The dccd convo is somewhat more popular in the USA as iirc the usdm spec B was auto only.

Wank factor? Like ANY other mod, yes, but if it makes you feel good why not.
It's often said: you'll never have the power to exploit it, which ignores the diffness under engine braking or the traction on surfaces with little or varying grip.

What in your gearbox is actually gone though, Dan?

If its front and centre diff, these can be replaced with factory items

Jaydece (Justin) has an oem 6 speed front diff for sale in the for sale section of this forum

The six speeds are slightly different between the Sti and the liberty. Front diff, centre diff, fifth and sixth gear. This is for adm / usdm sti's. the jdm is different again as they have shorter ratios which make hwy driving even more of a bitch. I would swap out your centre diff for a non dccd 6 speed and put a helical LSD front diff in and be done with it.

Unless of course your actual gearsets in the 6 speed are fubarred then that's a different story

Yeh thanks Mick.

This the issue. I have no idea how fubared my box is. I will try and upload a video that i have on my phone of the noise it makes.

Mechanic has confirmed that the noise is coming out of the box as i thought the clutch was the issue. The reason i thought the clutch was the problem is the fact that the noise only started when the clutch was fitted and it shudders and carries on.

So it will be coming out maybe next week and i will find out what is actually wrong.

Link to video.... Nice diesel truck!!

definitely something on teh input side of the box
maybe just dead input shaft bearings.

how long after clutch install did it start?
what happens when you put your foot on the clutch?

Noise wasnt straight away, but gear box in gear grinding was straight away and shit clutch behaviour was straight away.

Noise stops when clutch is depressed.!!

Must say that that noise was at its worst in the video. Sometimes its barely there. Then sometimes as noisey as that vid!!

No fecking idea.

I will know more next week i would say when its goes in to the mechanic.!!

that's warranty issues there mate.
probably a poorly aligned clutch or something not tightened properly.
