Hi Guy's

Need some advice, I would like to remove my MY07 cubby and install a android or mini iPad in this area. Has anyone ever done this

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

A few guys have talked about it, I am yet to see anyone do it yet though. What are the screen sizes you're thinking of? I know of at least 2 people that have custom fit a 7" screen in place of the cubby, to make it look a lot like the OEM nav screen.

I was thinking of leaving the clock in there but modifying the cubby hole above it to fit a 4.3" GPS inside that still allows the door to close on it. A 3.5" would fit ok, a 4.3 not so much

yeh ive seen a few 7inch ones fitted and plan on doing it to mine later in the year as well
never seen a small screen one done though cool idea though to have it so the door still shuts

Decent 7" tablets have a fairly sizable bezel. Doubt you will get it between the air vents.

Yeah forgot I posted that after doing some research.

Long story short, all my stuff is ordered to do the same with a Nexus 7 tablet.

I've also been looking into installing a nexus 7, the end product looks great.

I found these videos of someone who did it (first one is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7C7f7PIRGus) to try and get my head around it but I think it would work better and be a lot easier to just use tasker profiles to turn the screen on when it's charging (would always be connected, just need power to the car) and turn screen off when it loses power. The only thing I need to figure out is how to get it playing through the speakers, and still be able to use the stock radio.

How does this work exactly? I'm having a hard time visualizing how it will work as there is no AUX setting in my car. Would I be able to use the CD changer button or will the tablet and radio both be able to play at once?
The instructions are all in Japanese!

Press CD twice to get to Aux input. Only works when something is plugged in obviously. This gives you two aux inns which you can switch between with another button on the head unit.

That actually doesn't sound too hard, I was expecting something that would take me weeks to figure out.
Sorry one last (possibly stupid) question, what exactly is this called? I've tried searching for fsl-21 but this page is the only one that comes up. Can I buy these from somewhere local or is this the only place that has them?
