Front / Center diff Back up again

Hi all out there.

I have a question. I have a 07 Tuned By Sti and had a exedy sports organic clutch put it. Since that time approx 2 weeks ago the car is making quite a large grinding/rattle noise on low revs under load and backing off. I also had a beatrush rear diff support put in at the same time. I have taken to car to garage 88 to get them to check the diff mount and all is good. I trust my mechanic that installed the clutch as i havent had any issues in 10years with him.

Now i had the pleasure of meeting Matt from kiddo tuning and he fixed some tuning issues that i had ( ie the fact that pulse 'tuned' my car) and commented on my lovley grinding / rattle noise and suggested it could be front and or center diff that has gone by bys !! Now my car isnt massively modded and i cart my kids around 70% of the time so there isnt alot of sheinanigans that goes on. I do have a bit of fun, but im not brutal!!

My question is this. Would a TB STI 6 speed spit those diffs with my mods and 76k on the clock. ?? It wasnt making any of these noises before the clutch and diff support install. I would have thought that the stock diffs were ok for quite a while with my current mods .

Any thoughts and or suggestions will be appreciated.

it's your clutch.....those rattle like a bitch.....

does it doing it when you completely back off?

IMPORTANT: With any ceramic button clutch system, there will be some compromise of start-up driveability when compared to a standard clutch (chatter on light throttle, low RPM start-up) in addition to an increase in cabin/transmission noise. This characteristic is generally deemed acceptable in modified performance cars. Drivers of vehicles fitted with cerametallic clutches on the street should be warned not to ride the clutch or try to reduce the chatter as this will greatly increase the wear rate. The above information should be used as a guide only, please consult your Exedy distributor if further advice is required.

Daniel I highly doubt it's ur centre / rear diff mate

The post facelift six speeds are pretty solid. I would agree with jack and say its your clutch

Pressure plate in the aftermarket clutches are sometimes noisy and chattery

BTW - how does the laile diff mount go?

Yeh it does rattle on idle in neutral and when you back off in gears.

My concern is that when you load it at say 50kmh in 4th (which it did before the new clutch) the car makes a horrible grinding/vibrating/rattle.

Ive had a sports orgainc previously and havent had any issues at all. Thats why i bought another one as i was happy with the performance of the clutch.

BTW - how does the laile diff mount go?

The laile diff mount does look the schiz, but really hasnt made much of a difference. Less thud during a hustled shift.

If its grinding bad then it could be your spigot : throw out bearing - ie its not engaging properly.

Could also be a bad seating of the clutch plate or collapsed pressure plate??

Too many variables man - go back to mechanic to check it out

Taken my car back to the mechanics finally and it seems the gearbox is rooted.

Something gone astray in the box/diff's. WTF

He thinks its either in the front/centre diff and or some bearings that have failed.

My question is what to replace while its out?? Torsion front diff, quaffe or suretrack centre.... Or should I just source a full DCCD 6 speed with the factory LSD front and buy a dccd pro controller ??

I'm not putting standard shit back in as I don't launch my car or drive like a dick all day. A bit of drift in the wet is ok but my mechanics thinks that the previous owner enjoyed quite a few launches and then sold it.... Explains why the clutch was rooted when I bought it.

Thoughts, experiences and ideas are welcome and encouraged !!

i've talk to guys with dccd and non dccd.....and unless your tracking, i wouldn't bother.....

as for the front diff upgrade & centre i say go for it.....

I dont want to have a noisey track car!! But i dont know how the feck ive broken the diff/box as im not a racer and have my kids in the car 80% of the time. Just dont see how it could happen.!!

What are the options for front and center diff upgrades?? Anyone got any experiances ??

just get it all pulled out first and see what's going on.

these boxes are tough, but sometimes components just fail, you never know what the previous owner did or didin't do to the car

Which Cusco diff are you referring to? front, center or rear?
