How to get power for Amp in boot - MY08 Liberty GTB

Postby rainfm » Fri Mar 01, 2013 12:50 am

I have a single 12inch subwoofer ready to go in my boot but where is the best place to tap into a good power source?

Cheers

Are you talking about the amps 12V Constant or the Remote Turn On?

If amps Constant, then you need to run a cable from the battery directly to the amp.
If you are talking about the remote turn on for the amp, cigarette lighter socket.

I guess I mean both.
From the battery... really!

So my next question is... Which way is the best route for the cable from the battery?

Wouldnt it be nice if manufactures ran a thick core 12v cable from the battery to the boot and behind the dash. :)

It's much easier to have the amplifier under the passenger seat, that way you don't need to be concerned about interference and running your power/RCA cables away from each other. Then run the speaker cable to the boot.

There's plenty of guys on here that can help out!

Where abouts are you located?

Easiest way is to run it through the grommet behind the glove box.
From there, run it under the carpet and along the passenger side to the boot.

for the power do what mihai said and then run the rca up the driver side, to minimise interference

Nope! Piss easy running a wire from battery to rear. Rather run my own, that way u can control the quality of the wire. :)
