Facelift Boot Conversion for Pre-Facelift Wagon

Postby jay.ritchie » Sat Feb 16, 2013 11:07 pm

I love the look of the 06> wagons boots- the chrome strip that runs across the tailgate.
I know the taillights would line up differently for <06 wagons, but does anyone think its possible to get chrome strips from somewhere, and put them across the rear?
They would go from the left, through the reverse light, through the badge, through the right reverse light and end at the right tail light..
I reckon it would look cool.

Like this?

http://www.importmonster.com.au/view?ur ... &title=BP5

I looked at changing mine for this but was unsure if it would bolt straight up considering it was JDM.The AUDM one should fit but you don't get the LED reverse light.

Wow that's cool.
I didn't realise that part was separated from the boot- or is this just an add on?
If its a standard part- might be worth doing some investigating and finding out if it will fit directly onto a pre facelift wagon!

Yeah it is separate to the tailgate.I'm sure it could be made to fit if it already didnt bolt straight up.

Now that i know that might be an option, i'll email some wreckers and see if they'll split a tail gate

Don't think I want to go through the hassle of getting an entire new boot sprayed an installed.
Ideally it'd be awesome if you could get the silver trim pieces alone!

I have the sliver trim, but its wrapped in matte black. You'd need that whole section as shown in the import monster link, not just the silver trim.

What i should have said is... i HAVE a SPARE silver trip, but its wrapped in black vinyl. You may be able to presude me to put the black one on my car and remove the silver one and sell it to you

However, i don't think its as simple as just swapping the chrome trim piece. You'd need the entire section with reverse lights, trim and surround.

ohhh gotcha, reckon you could shoot me a photo of the black vinyl piece? Even that might be pretty cool. (Only if you're willing to sell it!). Might also be able to remove the vinyl?
It might be possible to remove clips or how ever its held on, and then stick it the the existing tail gate. a decent job for a panel beater

i dont think it would be to easy to just "stick" it to a pre facelift tail gate because its actually recessed in on the post.

i actually ordered one of the pieces from japan (on its way now) so in the coming weeks if it all fits up properly i might have the one off my current post facelift for sale but ill let you know

That'd be great, let me know!
Did you order a JDM one? Hope it fits yours- you'd be unlucky if it didn't.
