liberty wag spec b

Postby vk383 » Sat Oct 20, 2012 3:40 pm

gday people,a friend of mine has bought an 07 lib spec b wagon and as its dead stock would like to know the best way to modify.
What size exhaust is best and where to get it tuned in Tassie?Or remote tune?

Anything easy to make this car go harder reasonably cheaply would be awesome people.

cheers.

3 inch exhaust all the way through.
Front mount intercooler
Cold air intake.

Retune should get you 200atw.

Thats exactly what mine has.

Can t reccomend a tuner down there, nfi sorry mate.

kido_tune is the best bet for a remote tune. Matt is friggin' amazing.

Also swaybars front and back are a must for the handling. Reallly noticeable difference in cornering.

Mufflers are optional of the full exhaust. They're ridiculously loud in a station wagon as the dog box in the back acts like a huge speaker enclosure. Opinion suggests a very minor if any enhancement over the stealth back exhaust (dump, mid & Y) on an otherwise stock engine.

Don't know about 200kw/atw on a stock turbo...that's a bit ambitious.
Started with a Gen2 Outback, then got a MY07 GT Spec.B Manual w Cat Back Exhaust and Verso Tuned, now got 2 kids and a MY07 GT Auto Wagon, Ultrex stealth back exhaust, panel filter, Whiteline Sways all round, Spec.b struts and springs and Kido-Tuned.

+1 for Matt @ KiDo tuning.

Matt has a full exhaust, running e85 and his tune on his Foz and pulling 233kwatw. Read it here viewtopic.php?f=10&t=18759

Hey Dan

Did you get 200kw on a stock VF46 Turbo?

Wow that's awesome for a stock turbo. How much boost are you running?

A decent BB turbo will give it a fair bit more power too.

What are aiming for, 250+kw?

Id be pretty happy with 200kwatw with the stock turbo. That said, if I were to go a turbo upgrade, I'd want to shoot for the magic 300 if the engine could handle it.

About 235kw in a manual is about as far as you go safely before you have to strengthen the engine internals.

Apparently Phat has been able to get a few unopened GT's over 250kw but who knows how long the engines will last.

If you want to go down the E85 path, you should be able to get over 200kw on stock turbo with a fuel system upgrade, exhaust, intercooler and a tune.

hahaha, oh noes....I wanted to avoid the mod bug hitting me for over 200kw. :P

Yes, I ran an E85 blended tune on my supercharge falcon when I had it. Unopened 4L, bog stock engine with upgraded fuel pump and 36lb injectors, stock trans, WTA cooling and auto, it made 205rwkw on a wheezy 2.5" exhaust with paccies. On 98 it was about 175-180 safe tune. Heaps more torque too. So yeah I know of the E85 benefits and have thought about going down that path again. But my brain is telling me otherwise. :?

My GT is auto, and I really wouldn't want to rebuild the motor. I cant go down that modding path again. It cost me an arm and leg on my last car. Would be happy with 180-200kwatw MAX. Seriously I would. The 0-100kph times would surely be in the 5s....yeah?
Cheers
