Postby MY07GT » Tue Apr 15, 2008 12:39 am

Hi Guys,

they look a bit "tamer" compared to the old sti rims (for lack of a better word.. dont know how to describe it).

Are these still shadow chrome, or just a machined silver look?

They do look good.

Must be the overall higher class look of a wagon.

^i think it might be the gold brembos in the back ground rather than the black sleeper ones lol

I think the overall appearance as well as the little details (ie- gold Brembo's, gold wheel nuts, blackened mesh grille, eyelids, side strakes, etc) adds to the appeal. Sort of like having pretty people promote a product. Might be a crappy product but when a pretty person promotes it, people are more acceptable.

But yeah, I agree with chriskan. These wheels are ironed out (in terms of smooth lines) and "mainstream" so to speak. Not as aggro as the previous iteration, but I think it's in line with Subaru's attempt to shift their image to have more mass appeal.

ooo.. missed that! they're a nice "evolution" of the last STI rim. But I'm with franky, prefer charcoal. Wish there was black/black 07's left, I would've got that instead of mine. Can always respray in a couple of years I guess :)

Where were you back in August? :glare:

When I first picked up the STi I only had the choice of charcoal wheels, which at the time I wasn't a big fan of. So I was posting up on different forums asking anyone with the silver STi wheels to do a swap with me.

But alas, those charcoals have grown on me now and I can't see the car with any other colour wheels (except for chrome because I'm a total ricer at heart).

The gold nuts work surprisingly well, as stated, match well with the Brembos.

haha.. in hospital :P but when I first saw the charcoal I wasn't a fan, and specially wanted the shadow chrome. I still love it, but I sometimes wish it was black.. i guess i could just not clean em for a couple of weeks
