I have Logger working again thus I'm back to trying to nut my AVCS issue out before committing to the various fixes...
Thanks to a member's post I'm using the free app
MegaLogViewer Lite to graph my logs: its easier than Pages or Excel
Research continues: I found a wealth of info on this forum:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=433888That particular page has some very in depth info about how the whole AVCS system operates.
In my case, based on logging inlet cam VVT angles and their respective OCV currents, I can see one side gets slightly lower amperage(?), but overall, the cams are doing what the ECU is telling them to do.
Thus the ECU could be the source of the issue, or the issue has something to do with the feedback loop between the crank sensor, cam sensors and the ECU.
Idea: I did have a mechanic attempt to install an AEM Failsafe, which required a wire to be tapped into the engine speed output wire from the ECU.
Judging by the FSM, it was supposed to be tapped into a Pink wire from the ECM: C22 P on B136.
When I recently had the ECU out to be unbricked I noticed that the tapped wire was Orange/White: it was tapped into the adjacent C11! WTF?

The FSM has this pic of the plugs going into the ECM, it looks like it should be turned 180 degress for our RHD cars, meaning the wire was tapped into plug B135?
EDIT: the plugs on my RHD GT-B are in the order listed in the screenshot, everything is flipped L-R, a mirror image.

Snipping and taping off that wire has not changed anything so far alas... EDIT: because it was tapped into a dash warning light wire...
I'm still trying to nut out what ECU plug is which but this could be my solution: unravel that install and or get a new ECU... EDIT: not the solution alas...
So I'll take off the ECU cover for a detailed inspection of the wires and plugs.
EDIT: the plugs on my RHD GT-B are in the order listed in the screenshot, everything is flipped L-R, a mirror image.
Could someone please take a look at the attached log for a second opinion?
Its another freeway run 3rd-6th in and out of cruise control.
